all ive got to say is WOW!

Thu May 31, 2007 3:26 am

time for isiah to engineer a kobe to NY deal

Thu May 31, 2007 3:28 am

^^ thats what i immediatley thought.

Thu May 31, 2007 3:40 am

Please no... Please :(

Thu May 31, 2007 3:49 am

didnt they just squash this rumor on Sportscenter this morning?

Thu May 31, 2007 3:55 am

But apparently Kobe said it himself. How can they squash that?

Thu May 31, 2007 4:07 am

But where could he go? I'd like to see him in Seattle trad Ray and Rashard for Kobe and then Kobe/Durant Team...

Thu May 31, 2007 4:11 am

OMFG! That is unreal! Buss and Kuptchak, you did it again!!!

Thu May 31, 2007 4:34 am

Kobe for Mark Blount, Ricky Davis and Mike James...

lol, this is UNREAL..

will he actually get traded? I don't think Kobe can stay in LA and play for the Lakers now, after sayin that.. u know thats like... Ron Artest talking about it back then...

Kobe for Randolph + Roy
I am sure Lakers will consider this... Roy is a all-star calibre guard and Randolph is a 22/10 talent.... I don't see why Blazers won't want to make this trade, no matter how much they luv Roy...

Kobe to NY...
Kobe for Marbury, Crawford, 1st round pick and Lee...
That a pretty good deal...
NY is desperate, they'll do anything for Kobe.. Marbury shud go, Crawford will clash with Kobe... Lee they prob dun wanan give up, but dude they get Kobe... and same with da lottery pick..

How bout Nets?
Sign VC, give them their first round pick and get Kobe...
Don't think VC can play under the pressure in LA...

Kobe to celtics? Can they get him without Pierce? I don't see celtics getting rid of Pierce, same with Houston getting rid of Mcgrady for a similar but superior player...

I'll luv to see him on the Bulls...
Give them Tyrus Thomas, Deng, 1st round pick and Duhon... A lot but.. You'll have Ben Wallace, PJ Brown, Nocioni, Kobe, Hinrich...
Not as much of an upgrade as we might think.. Deng is a 20/6 guy. Thomas and Duhon are valuable pieces..

Will Kobe go for a bargain?
Man this is crazy
i can't sleep

A more possible scenario for the Knicks would be....

LAL gives:
Kobe Bryant
Kwame Brown

NYK gives:
Steve Francis
Jamal Crawford
Nate Robinson
Channing Frye

That trade wouldn't be bad for either team and is a possible scenario, and I'm assuming LAL would like to rebuild now so it could be possible that they ask for Malik Rose and draft picks.

Doob, you're trying to fleece the Lakers, and it ain't happening. Kupchak should be shot if goes for that deal. Nate Robinson shouldn't even be in the NBA, Frye is soft, Crawford has the basketball IQ of a flea, and don't get me started on Francis. If I'm Kupchak, I don't talk to Isiah unless David Lee is part of the deal.

They squashed an earlier rumour I think but this one seems to be fresh. He stated he wanted to be traded when Steven A asked the question.

Heres a link to audio on his site but I havent listened to this one yet, just whats on ESPN news.

Its all on Kobe now. As we know he is the only player in the NBA with a no trade clause so they cant trade him to just any sorry team. He can now let them know where he wants to go and they just gotta work something out or else he wont waive the clause. I'm with Kobe on this though, the Lakers have so many issues they couldnt address in 3 offseasons and wont be addressed in 1. Its possible he could stay and not be traded at all but if he wants out he wants out. No sense having players who dont want to be there since thats just a step back in the locker room. Plus its the least they could do for the guy at this stage in his career if they cant put the pieces together.

Kobe squashed the rumor he gave an ultimatum that Jerry West come back to the Lakers as GM, he said it was just a suggestion to improve the team.

This is new, and if it comes from Kobe directly there's not much to challenge it as a rumor.

It's in giant letters on the front page of ESPN, i doubt it's a fabricated.

Teams that could possible get him (and he' probably want to go) are probable teams like San Antonio (probably Manu+somebody/thing), Phoenix (wealth of talent where if one or two go it doesnt really kill them), Chicago (young talent) but I dont reeally see a Knicks deal working cuz LA would probably try to get the players Kobe wants to be around. I dunno how these would work out but I'm excited for Kobe if this happens.

Thu May 31, 2007 5:24 am

I feel that in the end Kobe will still be a Laker come next season.

Finding equal value will be very tough, if not impossible for LA. In addition teams that could "afford" Kobe (ie Chicago) might be weary to pull the trigger and give up so much. Plus, that fact that he is owed $87M over the next 4 years might make things tricky.

I am guessing that he will either come out in a couple weeks and take back what he said, or that trade talks will stretch out until September.

Thu May 31, 2007 5:27 am

even if he takes back what he says it can be a longshot since there still would be some friction between him and management..and clearly he said there's no possibility that no matter what the lakers do he still wants to be traded

Thu May 31, 2007 5:37 am

I love it how Kobe comes out and says he wants West back or else he'll want to be traded. then he does some damage control on 570 AM (radio station) yesterday and claims he doesn't want to be traded. now he does want to be traded (obviously, he's a great liar) and has been caught in a lie. I think a big thing in this whole ordeal was the Yahoo article that states that Kobe forced the Shaq trade which I think is true. I mean, the front office has all the power, but they do it all just to appease Kobe.
if he was a politician, he would be called out as a "flopper", as John Kerry was by good ol' G.W.

I don't know what this rumor is that he'd only want to be traded to the Bulls... he wouldn't want to move his whole family out there. he's been here since 1996. He'll want to be moved to the Clippers
and i think the Clips will oblige with Maggette and others.

Just because I can't resist, here are my thoughts on possible trade partners.

Phoenix - I am sure Kobe would love to play with Nash and Co, and a move like this could put them over the top. The Suns have the bait (Marion+others), but I think the Lakers would be weary of trading him to a Western Conference team.

Bulls - They have a lot of tools to surround Kobe with and they are in the the inferior Eastern Conference (meaning a title run would be much easier), but how much would Pax be willing to give up, and would it be enought for LA?

Knicks - Not a chance. All they have is a bunch of overpaid crap (sorry knicks fans)

76ers - Kobe might like a chance to return to his hometown, and the Sixers do have some trade bait (draft picks, AI, and expiring contracts). I just don't know it they would have enough skill left after the trade to contend for a title.

Either way, it will be interesting to see how everything unfolds (even if it does take 3 or 4 months)

Thu May 31, 2007 5:46 am

After the playoffs, trade Kobe to Detroit for Rip & Narz.
Since the Lakers are rebuilding and this trade worked on ESPN's trade machine I figure t would benefit Detroit/ Kobe's interests and keep the Lakers at a nice level of play with two good players, one big man and a talented two guard. Like it or not.

“We are aware of the media reports. However, Kobe has not told us directly that he wants to be traded. We have made it very clear that we are building our team around Kobe and that we intend for him to be a Laker his entire career. We will speak directly to Kobe and until we do that, we will not comment publicly about this.”

I think a Kobe for Marion + BAnks trade would work.

but i don't think the lakers have a choice of where he'll go, especially if he wants to stay in town.

Thu May 31, 2007 6:03 am

iono bout to detroit..they're a team where everyone contributes a good nice amount each game..not one player taking all the shots

Thu May 31, 2007 6:16 am

Well, I said that Phoenix needed a to improve at SG over the summer. I think Kobe would be an improvement :D

The Suns could trade Marion + Banks to make the deal work. Nash, Kobe, Barbosa, Diaw and Stoudemire on the court at the same time...

back in a few i think I'm about to orgasm :)
