With all hype surrounding where he will be I thought I'd ask everyone where you think he will be.
Milwaukee
Detroit
Memphis
Charlotte
Denver
I would like to see him in a Grizzlies uniform with Mike MIller, Pau Gasol, Kevin Durant/Greg Oden next year.

The Nuggets hopefully, a backcourt of Iverson and Billups would be dreamy.

Nice another 30+ shot guy for the Nuggets
I think he will go to Milwaukee.
Sun Mar 11, 2007 1:00 pm
Right now it sounds like a lot of talk to me, with the most likely scenario being that he'll opt out and seek a deal in excess of $10 million, using the interest he attracts from other teams as a bargaining chip. Then again, I said the same thing about Ben Wallace last year.

He's just trying to raise his price by mentioning all these teams. I think he'll stay in Detroit. Although, the Pistons owner is known for being a cheap ass.
Sun Mar 11, 2007 3:43 pm
^^^and that has cost us depth (since we had to dump Corliss Williamson and Mehmet Okur). However, i think he'll do whatever he can to keep Billups. Anyone that's seen Detroit play w/o Billups, knows that they would struggle to win half their games. The team is built around him, and he's too important to let go.

Couldn't agree more.
I would be happy to get him in Milwaukee, but not at the expense of losing Mo Williams. Mo is much younger, and developing very very well. If he can pick up the D he is a poor mans Billups.

Just like Carmelo and Iverson.

but not at the expense of losing Mo Williams
Mo Williams is shit.....he's just another shoot first PG who can't run the offense. How many shoot first PG's have won anything? Steph? Francis? B Davis? none, they are all career losers.

But a lot of people had Billups into that catergory before joining the Pistons. I think Mo can evolve. In the right offensive scheme he will be more than adequate. His skills are growing. Today he had 7 assists in the first term. Another offseason and a year without injuries will see him be a better PG. This year he's had to be more of a scorer due to key players being absent for long periods, but since they returned he has been more of a facilitator. I think he will really step up next year.

The difference is that Billups was coached by Larry Brown for 2 yrs and he helped mold him into an elite PG.
Given the Bucks roster (Villa, Redd, Simmons) they need a creator.

I agree. But I believe Mo will become that creator. A good coach would greatly help that cause as well. Stott's run a very Karl-esque offence, very guard based relying on jump shooting This system doesn't really show what Mo can do in a traditional point guard role. But of late, as the Bucks season has gone down shitcreek, we've seen the offense be run more inside out and as a result Mo is playing more as 1 than a combo guard. He's been taking less shots and getting more assists. That is why I think he will become a truer sort of PG in the right system. Just as Billups did.
But I couldn't agree more that the Bucks need a creator if they start the 3 you mentioned. But if Simmons or CV31 come from the bench not as much.

Mo will probably leave Milwaukee since his value is higher and maybe he won't get the money he wants from Milwaukee. Billups in Milwaukee would be nice. He's already won a ring so he doesn't need a contender, but I think he'll stay in Detroit. He loves Motown.

I doubt he will leave seeing he loves the town and the team. Plus he is restricted, so the Bucks can match any offer and they have the cap room for him as well as the MLE. So unless he gets an ridiculous offer then I can't see him leaving. In fact, I would put my money on Billups leaving Detroit over Mo leaving the Bucks. But that is my view and what I've heard from Bucks insiders.
Anyway, probably get this focussed back on Billups...
Sun Mar 11, 2007 11:30 pm
Oh. Anyway, Billups and Memphis sounds pretty good.
PG - Billups
SG - Miller
SF - Gay
PF/c - Gasol/Warrick if Gasol Leaves/Stro/Durant or Oden
If they get Oden, even if Gasol leaves they're a pretty good team. We know that Warrick can score and Billups is a great Point Guard. I like how it's looking for Memphis.

Detroit...i'm guessing the management made their decision last off-season when they let Wallace walk. A choice between arguably the two most important Pistons.
How much money can Detroit afford to sign Billups to without going over luxury cap?
Mon Mar 12, 2007 5:35 pm
not sure, but it'll be at least on par with what Wallace was offered....48/4.

If the Grizzlies pickup Oden I can see Billups hit Memphis. Do Memphis have any cap room this year?

Yea, I would like to see him come to Memphis though. Either that, or he is staying in Detroit. Anything is better than Stoudamire and Chucky, and to pick up an all-star PG (even though he is getting old) will be nice to add on with a team that has plenty of potential. A lineup of Billups, Miller, Gay, Gasol, Oden would be nice.
Thu Mar 15, 2007 6:00 pm
Even though Billups is a great player i dont think Denver could cope with another Star and rebuild again... If we had AI, melo and Chauncey they would have 10x more shot attemps between the 3, then the rest of the team and players would start to want to leave...
I'd like him to stay...
Thu Mar 15, 2007 6:31 pm
If Memphis is willing to go for it NOW. They will aggressively go after Billups and they will try to resign Gasol. If they couple it with Oden/Durant pick, well they would be pretty well off. That is if the management is willing to pay the bill. It would be a dangerous team, but would it be a player in the play-offs... That is unknown, but it would look good on paper. And with Gasol from the get-go, well they would atleast have a better season than this one.
And what about the Memphis coaching situation... Are they looking for someone good. If they add a good coach to this mix too, they could be pretty good next season.
But I have a feeling that Billups is going to stay put... He's the hero there and he might fall back to his old shoot-first style if the players around him change that dramatically... But since the trade-deadline was a total waste of everyones time, I'd like to see some dramatic changes this summer... So please Chauncey, go somewhere else...

GO TO BLAZERS!!!! LOL. any chance in the world of that happening??

Back to stuff that's actually realistic, he'll probably go back to detroit again. You know they're going to give him all he wants.
