Can't believe this sh!t - DJ's dead???? Damn...
One of the all-time greats. People talk about his career as a Celtic - hell, the Sonic backcourt of DJ & Gus Williams was one of the best I've ever seen. Magic always said DJ was one of the toughest defenders he ever faced.
RIP

I was all excited that Allan Ray was going to be playing for his D-League team yesterday, and now........
Fri Feb 23, 2007 3:04 pm
I never saw him play, but he'll always be remembered in one of (if not the) greatest plays of all time.
Fri Feb 23, 2007 3:18 pm
Shame. I remember reading about him from the Basketball History book, and it had a small sub-chapter dedicated to him and how he affected the Celtics and stuff.
RIP.

Very surprising and sad news, no details on the cause of death yet. Whenever his name comes up I always think of the clip from the 1987 ECF that ixcuincle posted, Bird making the steal and Johnson laying it in with Johnny Most calling the action. Rest in Peace, DJ.

RIP DJ. I might watch some of my Celtics Dynasty Series tonight to see some of the old games that he played in. If the Chief & Dumars are HOF material, then DJ definitely is too.

Was kinda caught off guard by this. Funny the other day I was thinking there'll come a time when all our sports heroes are gonna pass on and wasnt really sure the impact it would have on me. Just shows how delicate a life is and how death doesnt discriminate. RIP.

I read he died of cardiac arrest.
Fri Feb 23, 2007 11:38 pm
yeah i read that was the cause of death as well. ive only seen one game in which he played and that was a playoff game against the bulls when jordan went off for like 60+. He looked a real steady player and exceptional defender. 52 years old is real too soon.

R.I.P.
I heard that he died from a heart attack. Either way it's still to early.

I hadn't heard that at the time I made that post but I did hear it mentioned a couple of times during the Bulls/Wizards game today.

Did anyone hear Bill Walton on DJ's death? He was saying that he died from a broken heart of not getting elected to the hall of fame.

Bill Walton's an idiot. Granted he was a superb player pre-injury, but he says some stupid stuff most of the time.
Sun Feb 25, 2007 12:43 pm
Yeah, I'm with you. He tried to make the hall of fame voters feel guilty. It kind of seemed like he was being sarcastic. Bill Walton is very stupid.

well, dj still deserves to be in the hall.
