I'll say he is. He's averaging 4.1 Ppg and 1.8 Rpg. Playing only 9.3 Mpg.

As a Wizards fan, I have to say Kwame was the worst ever, although his rookie campaign stats were a bit better.

Your basing this off like 9 games and limited action? Its way to early to tell, and ever after 1 season if he still doesn't get 20+ minutes it would be too early. Alot of players say they can become stars if they just get 35 minutes a game, so imagine Bargnani playing at that rate - I would expect about 15/7/2 once he gets comfortable and confident.

You have to be kidding me.

Depends on what you mean by worst first pick. For this year, maybe. For long term, as in a few years, maybe not. Kwame, over the years have shown that he hasn't reached that first pick value, whereas Bargnani still hasn't finished a season.
His closest comparison is Dirk Nowitzki, and Nowitzki didn't exactly have a great first season. I'd say give it time.

That's right Cy, he is the worst first pick of this years draft. One may argue that he is also the best though...

What I meant to say was, "For this year, he might be considered one of the all time worst 1st picks, but a few years down the road..."
Tue Nov 21, 2006 10:57 am
how bout olowakandi, kwame brown and joe smith..i think kwame brown is still the worst
Tue Nov 21, 2006 11:13 am
Pervis Ellison is the worst #1 pick ever.
Tue Nov 21, 2006 11:23 am
IMO pervis ellison is better than olowakandi and kwame brown..
Tue Nov 21, 2006 11:35 am
its too early to tell with bargnani, but id say kwames the worst

Yeah, you're right.

Speak of the devil.
At the half of today's game against the Jazz, Bargnani's line: 10 points, 2 offensive rebounds, 2 blocks, and 1 steal.
Hopefully the second half will reflect those stats above.

Ever? Who knows, it has only been 9-10 games. After 3-4 years, if he doesn't improve, then he could be an official bust.
Tue Nov 21, 2006 2:10 pm
Olowokandi is the worst pick ever.....at least Kwame Brown is still improving and theres hope for him. Olowokandi can't get PT in BOSTON, haha
Tue Nov 21, 2006 2:13 pm
Kandi is by far the worst. Kwame actually has a real role on the Lakers and he's still young and will probably still have a long career, just far far far from what he was expected to have. Olwakandi will be lucky to be in the league after this season.

....talk about premature ejaculation.
Tue Nov 21, 2006 2:30 pm
dont use 1st pick on teenagers..if and only if the name is LEBRON JAMES and Dwight Howard..coz u dont know if they will improve..the 1st pick is not only about potentials..its about the instant impact on the team and on the league...and barganani i think has so much potentials but yeah we dont have to wait 2 to 3 years on 1st picks to make an impact
Tue Nov 21, 2006 3:30 pm
Relax kid, only been a month into the season.
See the game he had today ?
14 Points and 7 Rebounds in 26 Minutes.
Tue Nov 21, 2006 3:36 pm
Certainly not. Bargnarni isn't getting enough minutes.
Tue Nov 21, 2006 3:59 pm
im kinda certain he's not the worst 1st pick...but hes not worth being the 1st pick..
Tue Nov 21, 2006 4:19 pm
Olowokandi is the worst #1 pick of recent years. He is just useless. He had no potential to begin with. He was drafted simply of his size. Bargnani needs more playing time and experience. It's gonna take him a while, but he's shown some of his skills, and i like it. He can hit the long jumper, can score inside, can block some shots. He's pretty quick for his size.
Tue Nov 21, 2006 4:30 pm
Bargnani has plenty of time to reach full potential. Hes just not playing that much right now and hasto get used to the NBA style of play.
Tue Nov 21, 2006 10:13 pm
It's way too early to write off Bargnani. Yao Ming's first 10 games back in the 2002/2003 season didn't produce mind-blowing stats as he saw limited action (which was strange given all the trouble the Rockets went through to ensure he'd be able to join the team after they took him first overall) but once he got the minutes and the starting job he showed what he could do and his stats - while not as good as they are today - were a huge improvement on those early days.
If you want to look at worst ever number one picks in the NBA, players like LaRue Martin and Pervis Ellison stand above the rest since their careers are over (in Martin's case by a few decades) and their "legacy" has now been well established. Michael Olowokandi, even though he's still active, is up there as well.
