NLSC Six Degress Of... (Insert NBA Player Name Here)

Sorry for starting all these threads... but I think this will be fun :D

You guys all know in magazines and stuff they have six degrees of a particular famous dude/dudette and they give 5 people who are all linked to a 6th person...

Well, it's time for you to link yourself to an NBA player of your choice!!!

First off, I wanna say that please make connections that are fun/interesting instead of just being a bit plain I guess... like saying you met this NBA player who played with this NBA player and stuff like that. At least have connections with players who aren't in the NBA or even better, make connections with people who don't play basketball. Also, these 'connections' have to be relatively professional in their field and people with connections should have had met each other...

I guess it would be pretty cool to see what people can come up with! Also, just for the fun of it, try and link yourself to Michael Jordan. :D

Anyways, here's mine...

Six Degrees of Kobe Bryant

I met Bryant Matthews after he played for the Brisbane Bullets in a basketball game in the NBL… Who played his college basketball for Virginia Tech and there his career high of 37 points came along with 12 rebounds in a 94-92 loss to Old Dominion which featured Alex Loughton of Australia in his freshman year… Who helped his side reach the semi-finals of the 2006 NIT tournament before being ousted by Michigan, he was then invited to try out for the Australian national team in a bid to play at the World Championships and the Aussie squad included a player named David Andersen… Who plays for CSKA Moscow in Europe and was drafted by Atlanta in the second round of the 2002 NBA Draft was runner up for the Euroleague MVP award to Anthony Parker… Who now plays for the Toronto Raptors; he started his NBA career in Philadelphia, playing just 37 games in the 1997-98 NBA season due to injury, on his team was Aaron Mckie… Who played for Temple during college where his coach used to invite high school prodigy and his current Lakers team mate to practise… Kobe Bryant.

Two degrees of Brandon Roy
I work and am friends with a guy named Ryan Rabusch who went to the University of Washington, but failed to get his housing application in on time. As a late applicant, he has placed into the same housing complex as the men's basketball team which included current Knicks player Nate Robinson and current Blazer Brandon Roy

this is pretty dumb but

1.5 degrees of Sean Marks

I live on Auckland's North Shore and play high school ball, this year we finished just outside the playoffs, one of the teams we played against was Rangitoto College. Who boasts to having taught the only New Zealand NBA player...Sean Marks, who has chopped and changed teams throughout his career, but now struggles for any PT for the Phoenix Suns.

i prob shouldnt have bothered

Thanks man... I knew it was pretty much swim or sink for this thread... depended on how many creative people there are out there.

Come on boys! I know you can think of better ideas than the ones you got!!!

see this thread is silly because if you've seen the movie "Six Degrees of Seperation" you would know that the entire point of the movie is that everyone is connected by six degrees of seperation, so you could, in theory, do six degrees of seperation for every single player in the entire NBA.

Sun Nov 05, 2006 2:51 pm

No, I haven't seen the movie. So I wouldn't know but with what you said... it was pretty interesting finding links by coincidence and to find that everyone is connected some way...

Six degrees of SMUSH (or anyone on the lakers... Smush just sounds good)

I was coached in cricket by someone who played against Bogut, who played in Milwaukee on the same team as Kukoc, who played in Chicago on the same team as Jordan, who was the GM in Washington when he picked Kwame Brown, who now plays in LA with Smush Parker

Sun Nov 05, 2006 3:13 pm

I know this isn't how this works but it's all i've got.

1 degree of David West: I saw him play in a few games when he was in college. Xavier, baby.

Sun Nov 05, 2006 3:16 pm

Ah well. My idea has gone down the drain

Well, it was worth a shot boys! (Y)

Sun Nov 05, 2006 5:55 pm

It's not a bad idea really. It's just that people haven't put a lot of effort into it as you have.

Sun Nov 05, 2006 7:29 pm

Hey... I did one

Sun Nov 05, 2006 10:41 pm

I could do a couple ...

Two degrees of Nash: My gr. 9 Phys. Ed. teacher coached Team Canada, for whom Steve Nash plays.

... degrees of Jordan: He also helped Carl English get to the NBA (or at least the NBDL), I'm sure there's some way I can get that back to Jordan. I just haven't put in the effort yet.
