There are alot of players, that pretty much were bench warmers last season, or at least didn't show their abilities. Whitch players do you think will have a brakeout year this year?
I will only name one. Linas Kleiza. I mean, he may not win the MIP, but just look how he's playing in preseason. I think this year he will not start yet, but he might be in the race for the 6th man award, because he has immproved incredibly over the summer during the WC. He might not become the next Barkley, but still could become one of the better forwards in the league in a couple of years. Even though when Melo comes back he will not start, he should be a decent part of the Nuggets.
L. Kleiza stats in preseason:
22 MPG, 5 RPG, 14,3 PPG, 48% FG, 36% 3P.
EDIT: BTW, I didn't notice that these stats were before tonights games. Tonight he scored 23 points (most on the team), grabbed 8 rebounds and dished out 3 assists.

I wouldn't say that having a good preseason means that he will be definitely awesome in the regular season although it's probably logical that he should get more minutes cause he's made a good impression.
It's hard to say who I think wil win MIP since it's definitely hard to predict becasue anything could happen... we will have to wait and see... However, just wanted to tell everyone that Luke Walton has improved his jumpshot

So will be interesting to see how he goes

I'd say um Nachbar

he'd have a excellent year

Maybe Marvin Williams if he comfirms what he's done in preseason, or Krstic, if he starts this season like he finished last one. I think Jameer Nelson has his chance too.

pre-season means NOTHING......the real players play half the game if that, and they play it at 75% effort. Bench players will assume their role of keeping the seats warm come Oct 31.
Mon Oct 23, 2006 12:31 am
I'm really expecting much from Okafor is he's healthy, wouldn't be surprised if he won that...
Mon Oct 23, 2006 2:53 am
I'll throw out a name...Sean May.
Mon Oct 23, 2006 3:48 am
Man jus cause he is from Lithuania.
I admit he has been playing quite well but it's preseason.
Mon Oct 23, 2006 4:01 am
Korver, if they trade Allen Iverson
Or Luke Ridnour since he wont want Earl Watson to take his spot, or Chris Wilcox, but he sorta broke out last season but I guess it would be a "breakout" if he stayed consistently good throughout the entire season this year.

LINAS KLEIZA. He was carrying the team against the Bucks with 3 of our starters not even playing(Melo MC and Martin). I'm sure that in the first game he will start, but I cant see him start at 2, and Melo isnt a guard either, so GK has to work that out somehow.

Agreed. Anyways, to continue the trend of nominating players from people's personal favourite teams, I pick Fred Jones. He may not be the MIP when it's all said and done, but I do think he will be in the running. He's most likely going to be the first player off the bench for the Raptors, will start probably for some games. Bench or starter, he's going to play some substancial minutes. Maybe not quite the numbers hes posting in preseason, but close and deffinately an increase in production compared to his numbers in Indiana.

I would say Hakim Warrick because he is expected to get plenty of PT especially with Pau out for the first 4 months. He has played pretty well through the preseason and he has improved his jumpshot, so he may be expected to play at the SF spot.
Warrick's preseason stats:
29 mpg, 12ppg, 6rpg, 49% FG

i'm biased but i'm looking towards Deron Williams....look at his first half of the season stats to the second half....he shot 53% from beyond the arc after the all star game...if he continues this, and with the added motivation of his buddy dee being reunited with him, i expect big things
Mon Oct 23, 2006 6:39 am
well since everyone are biased here, I nominate Marquis Daniels for MIP
Mon Oct 23, 2006 7:10 am
G-Wall.
Gerald Wallace will win it.
Mon Oct 23, 2006 10:58 am
Going to tough for Okafor or Deron to win MIP being #2/#3 picks.
The highest pick to ever win MIP was #9, and that was McGrady who scored 27 ppg 8 rpg and 5 apg.
Good luck to them, but remember LeBron didn't win MIP either, it's tough for the high draft picks to get this award.
Mon Oct 23, 2006 11:09 am
Kris Humphris 4 MIP!!!
Mon Oct 23, 2006 11:17 am
I say Morris Peterson coz he had a incerdibale season last year and by the looks of it hes helping tht raptors club GO RAPTORS
Mon Oct 23, 2006 11:25 am
Lebron didnt improve that much either ... hes been consistently good
Silas - Ridnour is still in a timeshare with Watson, hard to win MIP when youre not playing a lot
Luke Walton has improved his jumpshot
Doesnt every player improve their jumpshot over the preseason?
pre-season means NOTHING......the real players play half the game if that, and they play it at 75% effort. Bench players will assume their role of keeping the seats warm come Oct 31.
Well ... it does mean you can rip people off in fantasy leagues

i'll agree to that. Hakim is one of my fav players so i hope he uses this opportunity.
if i had to pick a Detroit player, it would be Jason Maxiell if he gets the PT. He's a pretty good scorer, good rebounder and throws it down with authority. Since he won't get PT, i'll go with Tay Prince who is Detroits best low post player.

Hakim or Jason.
Jason is doing good in preseason action but jus preseason like I said and he is showing some promise.
And since Big Ben is gone, he will be gettin some minutes.
As for Hakim, he should step it up for the absence of Gasol.
Mon Oct 23, 2006 2:47 pm
if jefferson or carter gets injured, antoine wright will have a real chance.
Last year he was
1.8ppg 0.8rpg 0.3apg 0.1spg
Preseason he is
17.8ppg 3.0rpg 1.5apg 0.8spg
he apparantley has worked really hard in the offseason and he played pretty good in the summer league
Mon Oct 23, 2006 2:54 pm
Watch out for Anderson Varejao this year. He is bound to break-out this year.
If Gooden gets hurt and the started is Varejao, then he should put up some big #'s.

where are my manners, Darko
