Sat Aug 26, 2006 6:18 pm

Italy totally wasted. So many times coaches have said that free throws win games...How true now.

Sat Aug 26, 2006 8:05 pm

isnt it andrea bargnani shud be in the roster for the Italy?

Sat Aug 26, 2006 8:13 pm

:x Oh god fuckin damnit.Freaking Turkey won against Slovenia. Why do we always have to loose in the closing moments? And why do we always get an 3 point dagger in the heart of the team when we play our best diffrence.

Alright we are new to this tournament, but still we had a chance.Nevermind me I'm just pissed.Oh well I guees Turkey deserve it. There I said it.Good luck to them in the rest of the tournament. I hope they get their ass kicked

They have some great shooters that would really do well in the NBA, I know it's said that NBA and international play are different but Italy has stunning 3pt skills.

Lithuania deserved to win against Italy... Anyways, I didn't expect Italy to even pass the round when I heard that Pozzecco, Chiacig, Galanda, Calabria, Bargnani and other important players were not partecipating in this World Cup. We based a team all around Belinelli and Basile, which are great shooters but we had no inside game, and maybe that's why we lost against Lithuania (other than the FT's). But as I said before, our team was more than incomplete so I'm very happy with the results.
I'm (I was before too) rooting for Argentina now that Italy is gone. VAMOS ARGENTINA!

Di Bella is anyone coach dream he's talented i will not be surprise if he'll be in the NBA.

Say whaaaat?!? Man, he's playing in LegaDue (Italian Second Division). This is his first appareance in International Basketball, there's no way he could play in the NBA against the best players in the world, he would just get pwned billions of times (I'm surprised he scored a few easy baskets with Kirk Hinrich guarding him).

I just got done watching the Aussies play the US and I was pretty impressed with Australia in the first quarter. I think that's the key to beating the US is taking care of the ball and shooting a high percentage, but of course the Americans were gambling too much on D. Australia cooled off in the 2nd and they lost the game, but I was impressed with Bogut's handling & passing and Mackinnon's all-around game.

Damn, GErmany were lucky. In the final minutes, I was almost rooting for Nigeria. They really impressed me and would have deserved to win. If we play like that against the US, we're gonna get crushed. Well, we will go down anyway. But there's losing (Y) and losing (N) . I honestly hope we'll lose in style on Wednesday.

China got beaten by Greece... China were playing really well in the first quarter until that Greek Robert Traylor came down and totally changed the game... :x O Yao...

Yes, we were quite lucky, but in my opinion only at the end.
Some Nigerians really impressed me, Nr. 5, cant remember his name, dunking on Dirk two times, one putback, he kicked ass.
But if we had not made such stupid decisions in the last 45 seconds, this could have been way easier and more deserving.

We will loose vs team USA, that is for sure, but I think we can really show them that this Germany class is really good and deserved the Euro vice title and the third place in 2002.
Dirk could cause problems, since there is no one who can defend him on the USA. (Bruce Bowen could, but he isnt on it, is he ?)
And our three point shooting is above average, that is good, since no one really tries to slash vs Dwight Howard or Elton Brand.
On the other hand the inside game of the USA will kill us, every player can post up and is indivdually better on the offensive end.
And there are also some height problems, like our best defender is 1.85m (Demond Greene) and we only have about 4 players over 2 meters.
But it will be fun to watch anyway.

@hova-:

I think you mean Ekene Ibekwe. He was outstanding. But Awojobi (the guy with the "tie") and Mouneke were pretty much for our team today. If Nwosu hadn't gotten into foul trouble so early, he would have had much more of an impact on the game. Those guys can rebound, damn! Btw, did you watch the game on DSF? If so, tell me what you think about Frank Buschmann (the commentator). I love this guy! He gets so emotional and you can really hear that he lives basketball...

"Okulajaaaaaaa, woooah! Adiiiiii, so wollen wir dich sehen!!!" So great...

It looked like it might be a game after the first quarter but then they went away from Bogut and it all went south. It ended up being somewhat respectable given the poor shooting and the hole the Boomers dug for themselves but that second quarter was simply abysmal.

Mon Aug 28, 2006 2:23 pm

heh yeah it was funny when the commentator Rick Kamla poked fun at Bogut for the highlights in his hair.
