Dwyane Wade could be following LeBron James' lead.
Wade, who reportedly agreed to a five-year, $80 million max extension with the Miami Heat last week, is instead expected to sign a three-year deal with a player option for a fourth season, ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher reported Tuesday.
Will Melo follow his peers?

They said 3 years!! Wade is smarter than Lebron and Carmelo!!
Wed Jul 12, 2006 4:24 pm
yeh but wade lead them to a championship so they will want to keep him no matter the price
Wed Jul 12, 2006 4:29 pm
Yeah. . I'm just saying Wade is looking to the future, what if the next two seasons things don't work out, he can just go somewhere else, unlike Carmelo and Lebron, and Bosh, if he signs a 5 year deal!! 5 years is too long ahead IMO, but I guess they want to have 80 million in their bank account.

So you are saying that if things don't work out, just take the easy way out abondon it? Role players can do that. If a player really wanted to make a name for himself, he'd stay and bring back the team.

Are you aware that Lebron was the one who first came up with the idea...
Wed Jul 12, 2006 8:17 pm
Well technically the players didn't come up with it at all, their agents did. So LeBron's agent is smarter than Wade and Carmelo's.

From what I read they talk to each other about this whole contract thing often (Carmelo, Lebron, Wade)so I woudnt say one guy is the genius.

Maybe they're all planning to sign with the nets and become a super force draft class of 03 team.

I just read the news as it comes. . I don't care who came up with the idea 1st, I seen Lebron signing 5 years, which is now 4 and Wade is going to sign a 3 year deal. . .some of y'all need to relax

On The Score (canadian sports channel) it said LeBron and Wade were both signing 3 year deals, and Carmelo's was a 5 year deal.

Wade is going to make 20mil a season? wow. He'll be the third highest paid player in the NBA. Though I suppose if you're going to pay somebody 20 million, only a few players would be worth it and it seems Wade would be one of them.
Thu Jul 13, 2006 7:12 am
NBA players get payed soo much money yet someone like myself would play in the NBA for free. I dotn know why player want/need soo much money.
Thu Jul 13, 2006 7:15 am
Compensation for the amount of money they make the league.

I don't see why they need so much money, after you're rich, what's the point of being richer, it's not like you cant spend allll that money anyways.

If someone gave me $100 million, I'm sure I could spend it in a week or less.

why not all come to raptors? we can have bosh at c, lebron at pf, melo at sf, wade at sg, and ford at pg...
that will prob be the youngest lineup in the nba

they followed.....conspiracy anyone.
Lol, oh good god. Players resigning with their team is now a conspiracy against detroit? I spose the idiot piston fans could just throw beer at them next time they play at the palace.

Looks like Wade's also eyeing the possibility of an even bigger payday when the current CBA expires. But like LeBron, I don't think there's need for concern yet. Tim Duncan also only re-upped for three years after his rookie contract expired and he's still in San Antonio.
Thu Jul 13, 2006 3:26 pm
that's a pretty good choice by Lebron and Wade. I think sticking around for too long with a the same team is kinda boring and people want variety. Anyways, 20 million a year is amazing.
