It's official.

I'm glad. He's gonna be a good player but I like Steve Blake and Jarrett Jack better. I'm hoping this 7th pick is going to mean a trade package for Darius Miles.
edit: Maybe I didn't have to make a new thread for this, but I got excited.

i think its a good trade for Boston, Portland needs all the young guys they can get, maybe Brandon Roy and JJ Redick combo now that they have 2 picks
Thu Jun 29, 2006 7:15 am
Nice find, I think Delonte West will be pissed. Sebastian will be a good fit for Boston. Portland made a great decision they will be a very great team with the addition of Brandon Roy

.

Sebastian is one of my fav young gunz.
Good move.
But I wonder who will start, Delonte or Sebastian ?
Thu Jun 29, 2006 7:17 am
Delonte will play the 2 guard

Rumor has it this is being done to ship #4 and #7 to the Raptors for #1.

If that's true, I'm not entirely happy with it. Because the #4 and Telfair are not worth guaranteeing anyone at #1 when they can still get someone great who will help immediately at #4, and then another at #7 now.

yep yep, that's what everyone is saying over at realgm. If that happens, i'm gonna start worshipping BC.
Portland can't trade the picks since it has passed the 2pm deadline, so all the teams involved will have to draft first, then trade(if the rumors are true)

The rumor sprung from the fact that Portland offered Toronto Telfair+4 for #1 which Toronto said no too (Why I have no fuckin clue). So basically the 7th pick would be taking the place of Telfair in the new rumor

Exactly.
Sebastien will be at 1, West at 2, Pierce at 3, and then probably Jefferson at 4 and Perkins at 5. That leaves Szczerbiak (G/F), LaFrentz (F/C), Allen (G/F), Gomes (F), Greene (G), Green (G), Olowokandi (C/F), Scalabrine (F), and Jones (C/F) to the bench (that is, if Dickau is indeed the player included in the deal).

Gah for some reason I didn't think about the player included. I read the rumor earlier saying Dickau... does anyone know about his injury status? Will he be playing anytime soon? Could he play both guard positions?

Word,
I'll take that anyday.

my question is, what will happen if Portland can't get the #1 from Toronto? Who will they pick at #7?
Thu Jun 29, 2006 7:31 am
I wonder if Malfa has heard yet. Someone better break out the Kleenex..

Dickau said that he would be "without a doubt" ready for training camp.
I don't know if he can play the 2 guard, though. He has a nice shot but isn't that great on defense.
Thu Jun 29, 2006 7:39 am
Dickau's an average PG at best and at the 2, his lack of athletism would be exposed going up against other 2 guards like Wade or Kobe.
Thu Jun 29, 2006 7:47 am
Interesting trade, probably good for both teams. I think Telfair has the skills to be a very good player.
Dickau is good too, but he cant play the 2 spot. He's a true PG and wont be very successful at the 2.
Thu Jun 29, 2006 7:49 am
I'm hoping for Darius Miles+#7 to New York for Quentin Richardson (or anyone else for that matter, as long as Darius is shipped).
Thu Jun 29, 2006 7:50 am
Now that'd be funny, and probably not unrealistic knowing Isiah, for New York to take on a headcase like Darius Miles
Thu Jun 29, 2006 7:50 am
good trade for both teams

Well, Jarrett Jack can play the 2 decently enough and has great stamina, so maybe it'd work like this:
First unit: Jack SG, Blake PG
Second unit: Dixon SG, Dickau/Jack PG

It's an okay trade, kind of sad to see him gone, but we skipped Chris Paul to keep this guy.

I had forgotten that.
It is kind of sad, mostly because he was one of the players on the team who really respected Nate. Oh, well. I still have my child-sized give-away Telfair jersey.

The Boston Globe is confirming Dickau is in the trade:
http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball ... tics_blog/
League sources have confirmed that the Boston Celtics today acquired second-year guard Sebastian Telfair and players to be named later from the Portland Trailblazers in exchange for Dan Dickau and the seventh pick in tonight's NBA Draft.
EDIT:
Now Foxsports is reporting LaFrentz and Ratliff are also in it:
http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/5738468According to sources, the Celtics' boss acquired point guard Sebastian Telfair and big man Theo Ratliff from the Trail Blazers in exchange for the No. 7 pick in tonight's NBA draft, center Raef LaFrentz and guard Dan Dickau.
Not only did Boston get the point guard it has been seeking, but Ainge also rid himself of LaFrentz's mega-contract and also got Ratliff who should give the Celtics a much-needed defensive presence in the middle.
The Celtics are also still discussing the possibility of acquiring Allen Iverson, according to sources close to the situation.

Oh shit. THAT article says:
"League sources have confirmed that the Boston Celtics today acquired second-year guard Sebastian Telfair and players to be named later from the Portland Trailblazers in exchange for Dan Dickau and the seventh pick in tonight's NBA Draft"
.......Sebastian Telfair and players? Who else? Shit.
edit: RAEF LAFRENTZ??? THEO RATLIFF??? FUCK ME.
