loved watching this guy play in vancouver, but his luck was just horrendous. he was a good player, gave it his all every night, but his teammates (minus bibby) were utter garbage, he just couldn't get anywhere. after 740+ games, 14,000 points, 5,000+ rebounds, he's finally made it to the playoffs. congratulations

The jinx is broken and Popeye Jones stands alone. I'm sure Shareef is feeling pretty good right about now.
Mon Apr 17, 2006 10:27 pm
don't forget about adonal foyle
Mon Apr 17, 2006 10:31 pm
Shareef Abdur-Rahim is one of those players that just has a knack of being on sucky teams.
Now he's made play-offs.
ZOMG WOWZERS GOOD JOB FOR HIM!! I hope him and Ron Ron make it past the first round

I had forgotten about him, actually. He's probably overtaken Popeye now.

Specially if they'll play the Spurs....

im on crack, but i honestly believe sacramento can beat san antonio in the first round. i know the spurs have the best record in the west, but there's something about them this year that's not right. duncan has not been his usual self. i can see bibby just torching the shit out of them in the playoffs, considering tony parker can't even touch him.

I wanted the Kings to make the playoffs for the sole reason to see Reef make the playoffs....the monkey is finally off his shoulders....I'll finally be able to watch a game with Reef playing & not have to hear the commentators talk about him never making the playoffs
in Reef's defense, if you look at his team's history:
Vancouver - expansion team that had no chance of winning
Atlanta - came to team in rebuilding mode after Mutombo, Smitty, Blaylock, Laettner etc were gone
Portland - came to a team that seemed deep on paper but huge chemistry problems from long before he arrived. Not his fault
to tell you the truth, I thought the curse of Reef was continuing as the Kings were in kind of in a holding pattern before the Artest trade....
Mon Apr 17, 2006 11:00 pm
if Rnd1 was best of 5 i'd say yes Kings could beat Spurs, but i just don't see it happening. Spurs win 4-2.
Congrats Shareef, better thank Ron-ron.

Elton Brand has had a similar curse during his career. Is this year the first time he's made the playoffs? If so, congratulations to him too.
Mon Apr 17, 2006 11:55 pm
Sacramento can't get past the Spurs. The only upset they can pull is probably over the Suns, and maybe they can beat the Mavericks if they're playing as sloppily as they have been.

sure is, difference though is Brand hasn't been around as long as Shareef.

Does anybody else thinks that this year's playoffs are going to be very interesting? Full of potential upsets - Lakers over Suns, Wizards over Cavs, Kings over Spurs (this one is the least likely to happen).
Tue Apr 18, 2006 3:09 am
Yup most definitely. I reckon Wiz over Cavs is most likely upset. Hoping the Cavs draw Pacers , Bucks or Bulls but looks likely it will be the Wiz.
Btw congrats to Reef. Lol Popeye Jones. Poor man. I got a lot of his basketball cards when he was in Dallas hanging around somewhere. Man he was very common when you bought a packet.

Agreed, the "curse" isn't that he's a cancer but rather he's found his way onto those teams in the first place.

next thing you know, T-Mac will win the 'chip and the Wolves and Warriors will be in the playoffs

Yeah... I mean like the Wolves miss the playoffs like every year.

So, i guess curses don't exist, congrats

lots of playoff virgins this year
the aforementioned shareef abdur rahim, elton brand, corey maggette .... sorry, make that 90% of the clippers squad, and a bunch of other peeps. this is gonna be a great 2 months -- i'm dying to see some upsets
Tue Apr 18, 2006 7:52 pm
Im curious how the LAC will play in the postseason...i have a feeling that Brand will be a man possessed...

same for Artest...
Tue Apr 18, 2006 8:59 pm
Congratulation Shareef and Elton
Why not a post season 2nd round (clips 4 Nuggs 2 - SAS 3-Sactown 4)
Tue Apr 18, 2006 10:30 pm
Im happy to see Reef there because he's a player thats deserved it, although realistically speaking he has to thank Ron Artest for the Kings resurgence or it would be another season without being in the postseason.
Meanwhile the Clippers will likely meet the Nuggets and Im confident we can beat them, but their will be a string of interesting matchups to watch in that series thats for sure.

The one year he plays like a scrub he gets into the playoffs. Whoopty doo.
