Heights and weights of top HS players (NBA draft related)

USA Basketball released measurements that were taken at the 2006 Nike Hoop Sumit. If you didn't notice it so far, I'm quite obsessed with psychical stats, so I find these very interesting and I'll probably won't be the only one. Link: http://draftexpress.com/dedaily.php?p=640

Thoughts:
-Kevin Durant and Brendan Wright are long as a day. They both project as swingmen in the future (although Wright is a bit of a tweener) and they'll both be without competition in the height/length area in the League. At 6'9 without shoes and 7'4'' wingspan, Durant plays like a guard and he's as tall and even longer than guys like Wilcox, Stoudemire and other psychically dominants big men and he also has the overall athleticism to fully use his skills, which was evidant to everyone who watched McDonalds' game.
-Paul Harris is extremelly undersized at just 6'3. I haven't seen him play yet, but I read a lot about him. He played some PG this season, but he doesn't have the handle to do so in the pros or even on the college level. His game is based on overpowering his opponents and he doesn't have the shot to punish them from the distance. It will be hard to do so against someone like Iguodala, who's 6'6 without his shoes and can easilly prevent Harris' strong drives to the basket. His freakish 7' wingspan does help, though.
-Spencer Hawes is bigger than expected and a legit 7 footer with his shoes on. His lack of length hurts him a bit, but guys like Kaman are proving that a skilled big man can succeed even without having their arms reaching to their ankles - and Hawes is way, way more talented than Caveman.
-Gerald Henderson is just 6'5 with his shoes on, which dissapointed me. I really wanted him to be 6'6. I like his all-around game and fire he plays with, but he'll need to work on his shot if he wants to dominate against larger dudes.
-Vernon Macklin has a legit PFs height and Thaddeus Young has a prototypical swingman's body. Former will be a big time bust and the latter won't.

Shit ... these kids Durant and Wright have long ass reaches.
I can't wait till next year to see how well these kids can play.

Durant is a little too light, but has tons of potential in the NBA in two years.

Greg Oden is going to be the number 1 pick of the 2007 draft im pretty sure. He is 7'1 260 pounds and is a beast in the paint. He still needs to add some weight to be a great center.

Sorry, but you're really over-obsessed with heights, it doesn't matter a damn thing whether someone's 6"5 or 6"6, one fucking inch doesn't make a difference.

I can understand the points where you say someone's undersized for a position and stuff like that, but that's more based on how he uses his length and the kind of style he plays, not how tall he is compared to the average players on their positions.

OJ Mayo is nowhere near Greg Oden. Besides he's like a year or two older, it's like playing a 14 year old in a 12 year olds league.

once you hit 18, age doesn't matter. Lebron vs Bosh, for instance? there's an age diff of 2+ years. I don't see that as anything like 12 and 14 year olds

It means OJ has had a distinct size advantage in high school mostly due to his age, which would boost his stats no end.

Well at this point OJ is a junior, so theres probably many good players at his age.

Also, what school has kevin durant committed to, and have OJ and Bill Walker (i think thats the name of his highflying sidekick) comitted to a school?

I can say i like this no HS rule because it makes college BBall more fun. Though Jermaine Oneal made a good point "You can get drafted for war but you cant play basketball"

Trust me, those wingspans are true especially for Thad and Wright. It's impossible to shoot over them and if you take it in against them, you better e jumping like Lebron I remember earlier in the seaosn I had to guard Thad in an iso matchup because it was a switch and he pulled up for a jumper over me and his arms so damn long that the tip of my hand touched a little under his elbow and I'm 6'1 now! He elevates so high on his jumper its impossible to block unless your a world class athlete.

SHIT! What he doing now? Scoring 71, he should be playign collegiate ball somewhere and how tall was he? Another thing that make them two hard to guard is that both of them are lefties and your so use to playing people to the right. If you CAN force Thad to the right, he won't be nearly as affective, but the problem is if you can actually make him go left.

I'm fairly sure he's on an NBL roster, I remember seeing him on the bench during a game... he was only like 6'2 but the vertical was amazing. I was about 6'3 at the time and on one lay-up attempt his right knee hit me in the jaw
