All NBA / All NBA Defensive Team Predictions?

Thu Mar 30, 2006 3:29 pm

this is one of the things i look forward to when it comes playoff time, to see who will make it to the all nba and all nba defensive team. my predictions for this year:

All NBA First Team:

C - Camby - this was a hard choice. it was either yao or camby but i decided to go with the latter. no disrespect to yao, he' fucking blew up in the last two months and started playing like how everyone expected him to. camby has just been unbelievably consistent this year (despite some minor injuries) playing on both ends of the court. check out his stats for march.. just ridiculous.
F - Nowitzki - still his spectacular self on the offensive end, and improved on d as well (or it could be just avery johnson's system, but i'm giving dirk the benefit of the doubt)
F - James - 30, 7, 6 in his third year. playoffs for the cavs as well.
G - Bryant -
G - Nash - repeat MVP.

All NBA Second Team

C - Yao
F - Garnett
F - Pierce
G - Iverson
G - Wade

All NBA Third Team

C - Wallace
F - Brand
F - Gasol
G - Carter
G - Billups

honourable mentions: jason kidd, tony parker, carmelo anthony, ray allen, chris bosh

All NBA Defensive First Team

C - Camby
F - Garnett
F - Bowen
G - Kidd
G - G. Wallace

All NBA Defensive Second Team

C - Wallace
F - Marion
F - Kirilenko
G - Wade
G - Billups

Yao should be on the first team, not camby. In march camby didnt even average 10ppg... yao was over 26ppg (2 less rpg though) camby hasnt been all THAT consistent this season... i would switch billups with wade in the 2nd and 3rd teams too, mainly because i just hate wade. wade can even just be dropped... put chris paul or something in there

i would put kirilenko over bowen in the defensive first team as well, bryant over kidd, then put kidd in the 2nd team for wade

the thing is though camby is not really required to score as much as yao on the rockets. they got scorers in denver in anthony, miller, martin, etc. what he doesn't "do" on offense, he makes up on defense and rebounding. like i said it was a tough choice but camby was my pick, yao would've been my 1b.

Where is Elton Brand? He should be on there over Tim Duncan.

Thu Mar 30, 2006 3:51 pm

actually i agree. he slipped on me, like he's been slipping on everyone else this season.

c'mon now. be real.

are these selections based predominantly on stats?

Thu Mar 30, 2006 4:31 pm

I hope you're being sarcastic. Yao is the best center in the league right now, bar none.

Thu Mar 30, 2006 6:05 pm

Okay well Yao may now be the best center in the league, but was he at the start of the season? I only saw him do good after all-star break, a month ago. Camby started the season great as well but injure himself. Shaq injured at start too. Ben Wallace was consistent but not stellar.

So I've come to the conclusion that Birdman should be Center in NBA 1st tem.

Thu Mar 30, 2006 6:05 pm

wow, i love how Marion isn't all 1st defensive. He's gotta be 1st defensive and at least top 1 or 2 All NBA. A strong candidate for DPOY. He's probably going to win the Rebounding trophy too.

Thu Mar 30, 2006 6:18 pm

Very unbiased opinion

Yao was averaging 19/9 already before the break, but then after the break he really exploded. He wasn't consistent, he just went from good to very, very good.

Good point, checkmate.

YAO4MVP.

Thu Mar 30, 2006 10:59 pm

Defensive first:

C: B.Wallace
F: Garnett
F: Kirilenko
G: G.Wallace
G: Iverson

But my three favorites are Reggie Evans, Ruben Patterson and G.Wallace. Three beasts who really want to defend and make their opponents as mad as possible. Evans=B.Wallace? I think so

No, that will go to either Kevin Garnett (which it looks like it is his) or Dwight Howard.

Garnett also passed Marion in most double doubles in the season. :P

Reggie Evans? He's one of the worst defensive big men in the league...he's in Zach Randolph territory in terms of stopping his man.

All defensive team:

C: Ben Wallace
F: Kirilenko
F: Garnett
G: Bowen
G: Iverson

All NBA team:

C: Shaq
F: Duncan
F: Lebron
G: Kobe
G: Wade

Why is Tim Duncan on people's All-NBA team over Elton Brand, Dirk Nowitzki or Kevin Garnett? What has Duncan done to deserve it over those three this year?

Fri Mar 31, 2006 4:22 am

A lot of people look at names over performances. Shaq will probably be the on the first team whereas he doesn't deserve it. It's how the world works.

Maybe the reason is that he won 2 championships in the last 3 years.

What does that have anything to do with being on the All-NBA team for this particular season?
