Race for West playoff position (renamed)

Wed Mar 15, 2006 3:23 pm

The top 4 of the West looks like its settled, but its the bottom 4 that's interesting.

5. LAC (37-25)
6. Grizzlies (35-29)
7. Kings (33-31)
8. Lakers (33-32)

9. Hornets (31-32)
10. Jazz (30-33)

Lakers, Hornets and Jazz lost tonight..

how will it go down?

idk i think the kings could make a run for 6th seed possibly 5th

Wed Mar 15, 2006 3:31 pm

Right now I'm just looking what will benefit the Grizzlies more. If they keep the 6th seed, they would have to face the Nuggets who they haven't played well against all year. If they take the 5th seed, then they may have to face Dallas.

LA has the toughest schedule probably:

Hornets have Denver, Clippers and Rockets next

Jazz have Orlando, Atlanta, Memphis, Phoenix

Lakers have Timberwovles, Nets, Cleveland, Boston, Kings

no way LA's gonna win those games with Bynum playing

top 5 look settle.. clips playing solid all year, should stay where they are.. the others.. really 7 and 8th is up for grabs.. don't count the rockets out yet either with Supersized Yao playing..

Wed Mar 15, 2006 3:53 pm

Lakers better make it..and get a trophy :x

Wed Mar 15, 2006 3:59 pm

lakers look lottery with chris mihm gone.
Kings looking good.. i think they'll hold the 7th spot, possibily 6th
Hornets not playing well lately... they looking more and more likely to drop out
Jazz.. up and down up and down, i think they'll hold the 8th spot
Rockets.. tmac missing is going to really hurt, but we can't count them out, who expected Yao numbers to sky rocket like this?

Kings are the best team out that lot right now. I think thats an easy one.
Lakers are on off, they go from a great win in San Antonio to a loss against Seattle at home.
Hornets have disappeared.
Jazz are shit, and will continue to be.
Rockets had a huge chance, but that disappeared when Tmac injured himself.

Kings....probably will make, possibly as high as 6th
Lakers....should hold onto 8th
Grizz.....won't slip out
Hornets....Mihm's injury gives them hope, but they gotta start winning
Rockets....stand no chance

Memphis - 6th
Sacramento - 7th
LAL - 8th

Thats the way it should be at the endo f the year, judging by how thouse teams play!

Thu Mar 16, 2006 7:07 am

Clips are gonna maintain 5th seed, and probably increase their lead... they're really good this year, and since Maggette came back, they've been on a roll. Sacramento could make a run at Memphis, but right now it looks like they wont have enough time to catch them. LA will fall out if any of the teams out of 8th get hot... but that's up in the air, considering Miami beat Utah by nearly 40 yesterday.

Thu Mar 16, 2006 9:46 am

Top 5 is settled, the Clippers aren't going to get beat by anyone else in the West.

Yea, i'm so happy. Kings just took 7th from the Lakers.

now they are in a virtual tie with the Lakers for 7th

Kings (33-31)
Lakers (34-32)

The Hornyets have lost 7 in a row (N)

I don't think they'll make it

I think the West is settled now. I don't think the Hornets are going to make it. Yao's been awesome, but the rest of the Rockets aren't doing too good.

Fri Mar 17, 2006 4:54 pm

The 5th seed would be interesting as they either play mavs or spurs and that's scary... I think the playoffs are already settled its just the seedings. Lakers would end up as the eight seed and can give the 1st seed a run for their money coz with kobe and jax at the helm you never know. Rockets blew their chances with mcgrady's back though. :(

You mean...

McGrady blew the Rocket's chances with his back though. It isn't the team's fault that his back is bad.

Lakers (34-33, holding #8) are facing the Cavs
Kings (33-32, holding #7) are facing the Timberwolves

then the next day the Lakers are going to play the Celtics

these 2 LA games may decide if they make the playoffs or not.

Mon Mar 20, 2006 2:03 am

I think the standings as of now will stay that way.
