Yao Watch (renamed)

Sat Feb 25, 2006 4:05 pm

Seing that so many people have actually posted in this thread, why not rename it to Yao watch? Yao is doing very well in the past 5 games, averaging 27ppg 10+ boards, etc.

Sometimes players get lucky I think today he was. But still he is an awesome player a little improvement wouldn't go a stray though.

Sat Feb 25, 2006 4:10 pm

Well, his Rookie season was kind of like that, I think he has the skill to play simular every game. All he needs to do is bring more effort. I hope he can do that.

Sat Feb 25, 2006 4:12 pm

its one game, i expect yao to be back to his old 17 point, 8 rebound game like always. Plus they played the Warriors who don't have anybody big, and Tmac was gone so Yao picked it up. Thats now 1-16 with Tmac out of the lineup

Sat Feb 25, 2006 5:11 pm

Yeh he bloody played nice, yeh he'll def. improve and be a 20-10-2 player next year

Sat Feb 25, 2006 5:39 pm

very nice. he's getting like just on the border of 20-10 so far, hopefully he can end the season averaging 20-10

Well, T-Mac wasn't there so they needed him to play well. Kudos to Yao! The injury gave him a bit of time to rest up his whole body! (Y)

WERD !
You gotta admit Yao is improving every year.
Props to him (y)

Maybe this is his return or maybe he just had a great game.I'm gonna wait a few games if this was just a lucky day or a real improvment.
But still this game of Yao deserves a (Y)

Return? He's been doing this almost every night since he returned from injury (excluding Suns game). And, no keepinitgangsta, he won't return to 17/8.

I don't know what you're talking about. Yao has never averaged 17 and 8. He's the top scoring center in the L with 20.0 ppg. Shaq's behind him at 19.3. I guess 39 points by J-Rich isn't big.

Yao has never averaged 17 and 8.

Year 1: 15/8
Year 2: 17/9
Year 3: 18/8

Close enough.

hes been playing, spectacular lately
i'm definetly not a fan of yao, and i'm chinese
i don't like seeing his overall awareness of the game..
for example, when he has the ball and double teamed, he isn't the best at protecting and dishing it out... also when he is on defence not really guarding anybody, he doesn't really play great help def or he isn't a great clear the ball rebounder..

i watched his game against orlando, he definetly had more energy and he didn't really and he seemed to know what he is doing..

if he improves his fitness, and keep playing, he can be a 22/12/2 guy.. and he is showing just that lately.. he is just really big and is a good finisher .. he is only going to get better as he becomes a veteran..

I'm a renowned Yao-disliker, but he has been tearing it up lately. I'm definitely impressed.

Ha. Houston goes 0 for 13 or something without T-Mac in the lineup, and they break the trend by beating us and Yao having a monster game.

12 years and still counting...

Wed Mar 01, 2006 5:42 pm

Last 4 games: 27 ppg, 16 rpg, 1.5 bpg... pretty good. Wonder what's making him play so well...

T-Mac not hogging the ball might have something to do with it.

Wed Mar 01, 2006 5:45 pm

Is he playing more aggresive basketball??? Or same old yao Ball?

I cant tell from watching highlights...

Wed Mar 01, 2006 5:49 pm

In 3 of the last four games, he's logged 35 minutes or more. I believe that is your answer.

Wed Mar 01, 2006 5:50 pm

Ok... wasnt Tmac out of one of those games?

Also... Juwan Howard (Y) All he does is shoot jumpers from the baseline I notcied...

man no when i said big i meant like a big center

wow yao has bee awsome the last 4 games, this is probably the best stretch of his career
29pts/15reb vs. clippers
22pts/21reb vs. warriors
29pts/11reb vs. magic
27pts/18reb vs. suns

rockets aren't out of the playoff hunt yet.. only 4 games behind the lakers

Thu Mar 02, 2006 1:20 am

Yao has really been abusing defenders with his spin move. He's certainly being a lot more aggresive and grabbing boards, unlike his history of "telephone-booth-rebounding" Juwan is getting a lot more shots now.

Thu Mar 02, 2006 1:32 am

I really hope they catch the Lakers as the 8th seed. That should piss Kobe off and make him go 100 on somebody next year.

lol, i hope they catch up, but they haf a tough schedule, i am sure it will be close, if they had an easy schedule, i am sure rockets will be over .500
but i am guessing they will be .500 by end of season or so... Don't think the turnaround would be soo big..

Yao has been playing around the same aggressiveness, just seems like he has more energy
