another all star thread - Poll: All Star Game MVP?

Sat Feb 11, 2006 11:36 am

who does everyone have for all star game mvp? i think the east is going to run away with this one. flip saunders even said he's going to play hamilton, billups, and both wallaces together -- i feel sorry whoever's on the court for the west during that time. i would love to see t-mac try and attempt a backboard dunk.

i'm calling it right now, tony parker is going to pull the pass off the night. i dont know what the hell he's going to do, but it's gonna be great.

my vote - arenas or lebron -- more inclined towards arenas.

btw, i eliminated some of the ones that i thought aren't going to get it -- basing on past history and my personal preference. get off my ass if i don't think yao or gasol aren't gonna get it.

and i took iverson out because he won last year -- and as history indicates, i don't think anyone has won back-to-back all star game MVPs.

I voted Lebron cause well....you know hes the next j.23

Even without homeristic thoughts, I think Kobe's probably the most likely... if he shoots well, we all know he'll take more shots then anyone so he could end up with 30+ points.

Sat Feb 11, 2006 12:07 pm

I voted Kobe. Hes gonna probably have some ridiculous stats like 41 in 27 mins. Arenas might be motivated because he only got in because J. O'Neal was hurt.

As for back to back All-Star MVP's, its happened once. It wasnt MJ though, as some people would think. It was Bob Pettit in 58 and 59(in 59 he shared the award with Baylor), so Iverson could still win it.

I voted Kobe, he's just having too good of a season, imagine what he could do with actual talent.

Sat Feb 11, 2006 12:11 pm

Yaoza. :headbang: You should have included him in your poll. :shake:

Sat Feb 11, 2006 12:21 pm

it's deff gonna be a starter IMO....

Sat Feb 11, 2006 12:22 pm

i will fly to your house and eat your feces if yao wins.

i think there's a misconception with bryant -- the guy doesn't jack up that many shots in the all star game WITH the exception of 98 and 02 when he was being a blatant ballhog.

2005 - 7/14 shooting -- 16 points, 7 assists
2004 - 9/12 shooting -- 20 points, 4 assists
2003 - 8/17 shooting - 22 points (to people that are going to criticize him for shooting under .500, jordan shot 9/27 )
2002 - 12/25 shooting -- 31 points. 5 assists ( hogged his way to MVP, sad to say)

i don't have the box scores for the earlier years but i know he only had 18 points in 1998 .. and his percentage wasn't that great either.

i want lebron..but i think kobe will

Sat Feb 11, 2006 3:53 pm

LeBron will win it this year but Zach Randolph will win 07 all star mvp

Sat Feb 11, 2006 4:19 pm

Even though bron is my fav player..something tells me dwayde will win it.

Sat Feb 11, 2006 5:16 pm

Tmac will probably win, being in Houston and all.

Sat Feb 11, 2006 7:47 pm

kobe because he's playing with 2 players known for unselfishness (td, nash), and another two who are borderline injured. Regardless of that he'd probably win it anyway, because he is arguably the best individual player in the nba. anyway, you never know, lebron could get it too ala triple double, or even iverson who can score with the best of them.

Sat Feb 11, 2006 8:12 pm

Hopefully someone new get's it, but I'm putting Kobe in it to win it.

But I have my hopes on for Lebron normally third year should be lucky....

Sun Feb 12, 2006 2:05 pm

Yao and Tmac... one of the two. The other players will try to get one of them to win it.

Sun Feb 12, 2006 4:48 pm

If tradition is observed then they'll be trying to get either Yao or T-Mac the award (more likely T-Mac since guards thrive in the All-Star game) but I'm picking LeBron in this one.

Mon Feb 13, 2006 5:26 am

Go Arenas, I hope he goes in and jacks up a mad amount of shots :)

Mon Feb 13, 2006 5:28 am

I say Kobe or Nash as I think if he gets good minutes he'll rack up a shitload of assists etc..
