from NY Daily News
RESERVE JUDGMENT: Brown voted for all five Pistons starters to make the East All-Star team and at least three - Chauncey Billups, Richard Hamilton and Ben Wallace - made it as reserves, according to a league source. It is unclear if Rasheed Wallace will join them.
Toronto's Chris Bosh made the cut while the Nets' Jason Kidd and Washington's Gilbert Arenas did not make it, according to the source. Kidd or Arenas could be chosen by NBA commissioner David Stern as a replacement for Indiana's Jermaine O'Neal, who was voted a starter by the fans but will not play because of a groin injury.
reserves are officially named within a day or two right?
anyways, happy 3 Pistons made it
Good thing Bosh is there too he deserves it.

Good judgement, I hope Elton Brand and Kevin Garnett make it

Thu Feb 09, 2006 6:46 am
Arenas should have made the team.
Thu Feb 09, 2006 6:48 am
Toronto's Chris Bosh made the cut
I just shat my pants. I'm so grateful that Bosh is heading to his first of many all-star appearances.

Here is what the Eastern Conference Roster shoud look like-
C-Shaquille O'Neal
F-Chris Bosh (since Jermaine O'Neal is injuried)
F-Lebron James
G-Dwayne Wade
G-Allen Iverson
/Bench\
G-Chauncey Billups
G-Richard Hamiltion
F-Paul Pierce
F-Dwight Howard
C-Ben Wallace
G-Gilbert Arenas
F-Antwan Jamison
Snubs: Jason Kidd, Rasheed Wallace, Tayshaun Prince, Vince Carter, Michael Redd
Western Conference-
C-Yao Ming
F-Tim Duncan
F-Tracy McGrady
G-Kobe Bryant
G-Steve Nash
/Bench\
G-Mike Bibby
G-Ray Allen
F-Elton Brand
F-Kevin Garnett
C-Marcus Camby
G-Tony Parker
F-Shawn Marion
Snubs: Pau Gasol, Sam Cassell, Jason Richardson, Carmelo Anthony
Yeah...that was fun.

Jason Kidd had better replace Jermaine on the Team! I doubt it would happen though... could be Sheed or VC cause they both were 3rd in fan voting maybe? I don't know how they choose replacement starters...

Come on C-Webb!

I would've thought Vince would make the team, given his numbers and the fact the Nets are third in the East. I guess we'll find out soon enough since the official announcement will be coming February 9th (which will be tomorrow in the States).

Ironically, Vince has been recently playing the best basketball of his career, unlike the other times when he led the league in votes but wasn't playing up to par as he is now.

mike bibby better make it. i've been rooting for that guy for years and he's been tearing it up the last month and half scoring a shitload of 40+ games.

Why does Dwight Howard deserve a spot again? Why isn't Webber even on the "snubs" lsit?

Dwight Howard is third in the league in double doubles (34), first in rebounding (12.5rpg) and is shooting 52% from the field (12th in the league). He is getting 15.3ppg and 12.5rpg with a +21.35 efficency rating. I think he is having a better season than Chris Webber, and Webber's team isn't doing that much better.
I would say Webber is a snub but I just left him off. There are other snubs that I should have put on there like Chris Paul, Mehmet Okur, Stephon Marbury, etc.

Arenas not making it is stupid. The Wizards are currently 7th place at 24-23, and actually tied with the Bucks record wise. Arenas is putting up 28-4-6. If Pierce on a worse team putting up 26-7-5 makes it as a guard, I'll be quite angry.

Chris Paul > Bibby this year
just look at the wins/loses. Don't tell me the Hornets have a much better team...there record is better than the Kings.. injuries or not the hornets still are full of no namers and they in the hunt...
Marbury a snub?
sorry he is no where near all-star calibeer with the knicks being the worst team in the NBA.
His numbers are similar to Chris Paul, plus the knicks play in the easier eastern conference yet they so horrible.
Okur... yeah he is a snub, having a good year for the jazz
Thu Feb 09, 2006 6:43 pm
Good for all of them. They all deserve it.
Thu Feb 09, 2006 8:49 pm
Mehmet Okur is definatly a snub the way he's going if Jazz make a decent place next year he'll be in the lineup hopefully next year, but fans are not the smartest people at choosing the lineup. I think they should have a panel of experts that choose allstars but I'm not saying fans are not the worst at choosing but experts would be better.
Hopefully Jkidd and Vince make it two great players. I'm also happy that they chose the Detroit players, Big Ben will put some defensive flavour into the game.
Thu Feb 09, 2006 9:01 pm
Agreed fan voting doesn't necessarily reflect the best choices, but I wouldn't place Okur ahead of the likes of Duncan, McGrady or Garnett. Yao (when healthy) is generally better statistically too, if Okur is listed as a centre.
Thu Feb 09, 2006 10:32 pm
Problem is, Yao hasn't been healthy, and Okur has played really well. Yao just eats up a roster space. Same as T-Mac. Too many games out IMO to play.

What are you talking about? I know Mike Bibby is having a better year for Chris Paul, which is why I put Mike Bibby on the all-star team. Why don't you read before you say something stupid.

LOL, what are YOU talking about? He said Chris Paul > Mike Bibby, meaning CP is having a better year than Bibby (according to him).
