I don't say Toni Kokoc and he is on the bucks I am saying Willams because he is the best 6th man in my mind.

You can't have 2 sixth men on the same team

These are obviously just opinions based on whats happened so far, it doesn't matter if its not half way through the season if you want to give to an estimate. The same thing goes for something like the "All NBA first team" thread or the MIP thread.

in a literal sense, yes

but a team can have 2 very valuable reserves- i.e Gordon and Chandler last year

I would have said Zo as a lock a few weeks ago. I still think he has a chance, but I'm not sure if he will get it.

Is Caron Butler still coming off the bench for the Wizards? I would probably go with him right now, when he was coming off the bench he was averaging about 14 ppg and shooting 86% from the FT line.

Sat Jan 14, 2006 8:43 am

On numbers alone, and should the Bucks reach the playoffs, Mo is a lock right now.

Sat Jan 14, 2006 8:45 am

good god, enough of the "if they make the playoffs" argument. He either is or isn't the best bench player.

Maybe Darko will win 6th man of the year since his team is a playoff lock.

Boykins (y)

Sat Jan 14, 2006 9:09 am

is the sixth man aloud to start in any games or does he have to have started in none.

Sat Jan 14, 2006 9:32 am

I think the sixth man must come off the bench for the majority of the season. But they can start some games. I think its like 20 games or something.

Then I guess Paul Pierce should be the MVP, eh?

It's not about what you or me think, or anyone who does not get to cast a vote, for that matter.

Historically, 9 out of 10 cases, voters are greatly affected by the overall team performance when judging for MVP and 6th man.

The only category that is still heavily dependant on numbers alone, is that of MIP.

Sat Jan 14, 2006 12:12 pm

Boykins, he does a lot for our team off the bench.

Speedy Claxton

Yes, you can call me bias, but this probably is the best statement I've ever made about the Grizzlies that is close to being true.

MIKE MILLER, this guy had a triple double against the Kings, and he is averaging 12.9ppg, 5.9rpg and 2.6apg OFF THE BENCH. Sure he is getting 30mpg, but he is still considered a 6th man. And tonight against the Nets, he had 18 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. If he doesn't get it, or at least get 2nd in the voting.

Sat Jan 14, 2006 2:26 pm

If Manu stays on the bench for the rest of the season then he'll win it

i think he has a chance to

Sat Jan 14, 2006 6:50 pm

I'd go with Miller too! his PT might deter some voters as they may view him essentially as a starter.

Sat Jan 14, 2006 8:50 pm

For me its out of these 2
-Jamal Crawford
-Earl Boykins

Sat Jan 14, 2006 9:03 pm

Jamal Crawford if he continues to do as well as he has been doing recently. If not, then Earl Boykins

Sat Jan 14, 2006 11:24 pm

Channing Frye's another Knicks that's big off the bench.

Sun Jan 15, 2006 4:16 am

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Derek Fisher. He's averaging a career high 12.3 ppg this year and this guy is clutch.

And of course, Villanueva deserves some attention :P
