I think a point should be deducted from the team reciving the technical. Even if the other team can't capitalize on the free throw, the other team should still recieve some sort of punishment for unsportsmanlike conduct. I know that two technicals will get you ejected, but the thing is, that doesn't happen too often. Coaches and players sometimes cuss out the officials with the intention of getting a technical to rally their team, and they should be docked a point.
Hope that makes since, just a random thought of mine.

I strongly disagree. You shouldn't forfeit any points scored due to a technical, you're risking giving one (or more) up anyway with the free throw. Remember that technical fouls are not only for unsportsmanlike conduct but penalties for many technicalities (hence the name).

I think the rule is fine as it is. If they were to take off any points thenI would say maybe take off one point and not let them shoot any free throws.

But that's a point the team has scored fair and square. A field goal/free throw shouldn't be null and void due to a technicality that's most likely completely unrelated and usually a significant period of time after the fact.

Well w/e then, its not like I had any problems with it so its fine as is.

I think you know what I was referring to when I said technical fouls. I wasn't taking other technicalities into consideration. Those are fine as is. I just find it to be too easy for a player or coach to get away with giving the refs hell. They should have to pay. Do you think that the cops should not be able to give you a ticket because you "earned your money fairly"?

Come now, those are two completely different situations. One is violating a law, the other is an infraction in a sport. Players and coaches are already punished. They give their opponent an opportunity for an extra point (or more if there's more than one tech called against them) and they place themselves at risk of ejection. Forfeiting points is something that would happen in an activity in PE class or in a pinch at the junior level, not a rule that's appropriate for a professional sports league.
