Best Rookies - First Month.

Thu Dec 01, 2005 2:24 pm

Who do you guys think are the best rookies so far in this first month?? So far , I think my list would be ....

Chris Paul
Charlie Villinueva
Channing Frye
Andrew Bogut
Deron Williams

well , thats my list , and yours?

I think its my duty to talk about how good Sarunas Jasikevicius has been. His numbers haven't been incredible, but he is getting 8.3 points per game in just 18.5 minutes per game. Plus he has been an incredibly intense player who makes huge shots. He scored 17 against Cleveland, and has been an absolutley excellent freethrow shooter. This guy can flat out play.

I would say Doobie's list is correct, however I would switch the spots of Frye and Charlie. There are probably a few others who have been just as good as Deron as well.

In order:

Chris Paul
Andrew Bogut

To be honest, I don't think you can really separate guys like Frye, Williams, Robinson, Sarunas, Villanueva, May etc.

Chris Paul owns all

Thu Dec 01, 2005 6:09 pm

chris paul and channing frye are the 2 stand outs early i think

Totally, CP3 for West rookie of the month and Frye for East rookie of the month

I told you, didn't I. Now wait another month or so and Tinsley will be watching Sarunas from the bench. 8-)

What about Calderon? He doesn't that many shots but has good APG. He is sixth in assists per 48 minutes.

Considering Frye is getting significant playing time from a coach that normally does not play rookies much.. and he is actually helping the team out big time.

Frye is getting 2 less rebounds that Bogut, scoring 6 more ppg than Bogut, shooting way better free throws ( 82% vs 59%) in slightly less playing time. I don't think Bogut is clearly ahead of Frye with what i've said.
Oh, and these aren't just stat-padding numbers, he has worked his way pass the LArry Brown ways and become a regular in the knicks offense now.
Keep in mind Bogut is the #1 pick so he is expected to put up good numbers

Chris Paul. He has been outstanding, and putting up great numbers in points and assists. If he can keep this up, he's a lock for ROY.

What does that mean? You saying Frye doesn't help his team? Watch some Knicks games and say that.

Paul and Frye have really stood out. I kinda expected Paul to play good for the Hornets but Frye has really been surprisingly good. Deron and Bogut have also ben constantly good as well, so has Villanueva, who had two great games and has been playing pretty good in the rest of them. The 30 and 28-point games by Stoudamire and Head were quite surprising, nice efforts. And can't forget Diogu, he has been great after returing.

As for Sarunas, he's more like a veteran compared to the rest of the rookies. His Numbers might not be as high but his presence on the court makes a difference. I wounder how long does it take him to break to the opening 5.

Just wait for Ike to get in full blast and Paul will be in trouble... Not to mention Troy Murphy...

Yup. He'll be a playa. Did you see any of the Arizona State games last year? He was unstoppable in the paint, scoring at will. And it seems like he does the same thing in the pros. I don't think Elton Brand is a suitable comparison. He has much more post game that Brand ever had. But I think his potential numbers are still around Brand's: a solid 20 and 10 for a decade or so.

And Paul should be the first pick taken. OK, I get why the Bucks didn't take him, but Hawks? WTF? He still looks like a midget, though.
