I guess this sucks for him as an individual. See hopw the test results go. I don't think it will affect the Pacers too much though. Hasn't played much this season anyway.

He can retire rich. It's like he won the lottery, didn't have to do much. Played some games, and sat on the bech a lot. Could've become a good player though. He's very athletic. Wonder what would've happened if Toronto didn't trade him :?: :?: Things might have been different.

 Bender has got to be the youngest player in NBA history to retire if he does... what is he? 24 or 25 years old? Amazing... best of luck to him.

Thu Dec 01, 2005 10:29 am

It says he had a lot of pain and problems with his knees even in High School, so i don't it would have mattered what team he played on.

It's too bad, he had great potential.

Thu Dec 01, 2005 10:41 am

i loved him in nba live

Thu Dec 01, 2005 11:33 am

Bender would have been exposed for a good HORSE player if he had gone in to college and wouldn't have even been drafted.

Thu Dec 01, 2005 11:57 am

He's really had to battle health problems for what seemed like almost his whole career. I'd hate to see a player retire so young and still has the potential to do something in this league.

Thu Dec 01, 2005 12:58 pm

He was a bust as a draft pick, and i won't mind if he reitres.

Thu Dec 01, 2005 1:06 pm

I suppose we should have seen it coming.

Agreed, he was one of my flavour of the month players to grab in Franchise games a few years back as well.

He had potential, according to Donnie Walsh, but it's too bad injuries kept him from flourishing.

Once he's gone, Donnie will admit that he made a mistake. Oh well. Too bad we didn't use that pick to draft Shawn Marion, or Rip Hamilton, or...

You are by far the worst person around......Is your heart made of cement?

Thu Dec 01, 2005 1:50 pm

How is he the worst person?? I wouldn't mind seeing players around the league retire . I wish him luck and all , but its not like he wishes him death . He just doesnt mind that Bender is going to retire.

Thu Dec 01, 2005 1:54 pm

Were the people you had in mind around 40 years old? Why would you want to see someone who is 24 or whatever retire?

Thu Dec 01, 2005 1:55 pm

He can retire at 24 because he just stole millions of dollars from an NBA franchise that thought he was going to be a star. He should retire and move to Cuba or something.

Thu Dec 01, 2005 1:57 pm

Yeah he should've gone to them and said "You know I've been injured and not playing, please cut my contract down to the minimum. Thanks".

Sarcasm

Thu Dec 01, 2005 2:47 pm

He got like $25 million for sitting on the bench, why should we feel sorry for him if he has to retire?

Thu Dec 01, 2005 2:53 pm

Because human beings usually have emotions....

agreed, in live 2005, he had decent handles, had a good shot, even sometimes the 3, plus he could block and rebound, he was the shit in that game.

It's not like he is crippled, he can still do things in life. He has millions of dollars to do what he wants. He could go to college and get a degree. He could travel the world. He could do a lot of things.

I wouldn't call someone a horrible person for wishing a injury-prone millionaire to retire.

Thu Dec 01, 2005 3:41 pm

I have to agree with Riot, he's made a lot of money by doing not much, he should get a college degree or whatever multi-millionaire Americans do.

I reckon he'll blow the money on drugs, sex and alcohol and then try to come back to the NBA after 2 years, but fail to do so until he's 35, then he'll get a 10 day contract and then get cut.

So if you couldn't do what you love anymore because of injury you would expect people not to give a damn at all? Bender, I assume, wanted to have a good career in the NBA. Now isn't going to. He could go to college and get a degree and all that other stuff, but that doesn't mean he wants to. Wouldn't that be fun if the only thing you wanted to do was something that you couldn't do!

(By the way, I was exaggerating just a little when saying Anthony15 was the worst person by far.)

Thu Dec 01, 2005 5:19 pm

Unless he plays for your team, or has raped your dog or something it's a bit toolish to wish someone would retire.
