Was Luke Walton drafted specifically for the triangle?

Mon Sep 19, 2005 11:33 pm

Just been reading some info on certain plays, namely the triangle, and came up with a theory that Luke Walton was drafted by the Lakers specifically for the Triangle offense.

I think hes a great player in the triangle, and had a better season when that was their offense (2004).

What are your thoughts?

True true, very true.
I remember in the 03/04 season I was hearing a fair bit about that kid....
but last season, absolutely nothing, not a single word

Yep. He's a non selfish guy who is a great passer and smart player... and thats why he got drafted. Jax saw something in him for the offence... so ur spot on!

thanks for the reply guys.

Hopefully Walton gets more playing time now that Phil Jax is back.

Most teams - or at least the ones that know what they're doing - draft players they actually need and can use effectively in the systems the head coach has installed. As an unselfish, cerebral player that has the talent and physical capacities to play basketball, Luke Walton would (for the most part) have been picked with the triangle in mind. The fact he's the son of a former great probably helped him a little too. ;)
