We all knew this was coming after Finley signed with the Spurs. I will miss Devin

he showed so much potential.

Good signing for Utah now they have some athleticism in the back court (CJ Miles, Devin Brown, Maybe Deron a lil bit)

a good starting lineup and some nice bench players.
Sat Sep 10, 2005 6:38 pm
pretty much expected. Devin won't have much to do in San Antonio anyway

good move by the Spurs..They know they'll waste money for him.

But as you can see, Marks probably demanded way less money than Brown, and seeing as Popovich was high on his "locker room leadership", I guess they picked Marks over Brown. Brown on the other hand didn't have anything going for him. Finely is probably the biggest factor that they didn't decide to match, and I don't see how the Spurs lose that much from declining to match his offer.
Hopefully Brown will get more playing time in Utah. Devin's one of my favourites in the league.

devin's position is too overloaded now than with marks with yeah lesser money too.

But we also signed Finley and Van Exel...2 guards
Sean Marks wont get a lot of playing time but he still gives us more depth at the C position

maybe brown will even start at SG position in Utah!

Devin Brown is listed at 6'5 but he is closer to 6'2 or 6'3. That was a huge issue for me especially since Devin was not an incredile shooting threat. I love his hustle and energy and I think he will benefit Utah far more than a Spurs' team that needed length and is full at the positions he was playing. His back may also be an issue but not sure how much. S. Mark is a player that apparently alot of Spurs personnel and players were high on keeping around plus he is playing a big man position so they kept him cheap. He has played fairly well when he has played and hopefully will get better. Spurs have a nice squad to put on the floor this season just need to do what they are playing to do and that's win championships. This team more than any should be capable and should meet some stiff competition along the way in Houston, Indiana and Detroit. I'm not particularly worried about any of the other teams at this point but those teams are my favorites to give S.A. a run for thier money. Houston will make some noise this season I think. Back to the topic. Spurs, Devin Brown etc.

Guess it was inevitable with Finley signing. Good move for the Jazz so long as Brown's back holds up. It's been a bit of a quiet offseason for the Jazz apart from trading some unwanted youngsters for a familiar face. I can't see them jumping into the top eight in the West, though they were one of the best teams in the league for a moment last season.

provided Massenburg isn't re-signed, we might be seeing a consistent 12th man roster space opening for my man Sean
on a side note, it's a solid signing by the Jazz....basically replacing Raja Bell with another swingman, who will want to prove a lot this coming season....

brown will certainly replace raja bell. a very good signing.
