I don't think that makes sense.

Sure has me confused :?

Wed Aug 03, 2005 4:09 pm

how can they be a dream team if their team is worse than last year's?

Wed Aug 03, 2005 4:15 pm

Like other people say, it looks good on paper but just wait until the season starts. They'll go far in my opinion but not an NBA Title.

C : O'Neal - Mourning - Doleac
PF: Haslem - Simien - Laettner
SF: Walker - Posey - Wright - Emmett
SG: Wade - Anderson - Smith
PG: Williams -

They still need a backup PG. Maybe they can trade away Dorell Wright for a PG. He can start fresh and not worry as much.

Yea, and I don't consider that the greatest transaction in NBA history either. It's going to be interesting seeing how Jwill and Walker change their attitude.

Wed Aug 03, 2005 4:32 pm

3 Flashy players in a team...
Wade, Williams, Walker.. The 3 W's..

Wed Aug 03, 2005 4:38 pm

yeah....J-Will + Walker = turnovers, bad decisions, questionable character

Miami falls after one good season......

Except if Shaq wakes up and gets those 30-10 games again....Wade for 25ppg

I still think they'll be really good cause of Wade and Shaq, but their 3-pt shooting will go down with no Jones'.

Yea,that sucks but on Live Williams and Posey have nice 3 pt ratings. :P

Remember the other so called dream teams of the nba in past seasons. Most of them imploded after the 1st month...

Or in Orlandos case never happened, since Grant Hill and Tmac only played a handful of times.

The deepest team in recent years was the Portland Trailblazers in 1999/2000. They had an allstar/former all star 2 / 3 deep at each spot....but had no real leader. (N)

Them and the Lakers of two seasons ago... and we all remember how that went down.

The 2003/4 Lakers were 'deep'? They practically had no bench.

Wed Aug 03, 2005 7:09 pm

I meant dream team wise..for the lakers.

Wed Aug 03, 2005 7:35 pm

Seems like a "great on paper, not so great in execution" situation waiting to happen.

Wed Aug 03, 2005 7:38 pm

Yeh i totally agree with that.
Walker and J Will will definitely not complement Shaq and Dwyane. Posey is alright I think.
They will definitely be a good team to go on Live ;)

Wed Aug 03, 2005 7:49 pm

Nevertheless, Miami got some decents players just incase Shaq and Wade are injured.

Wed Aug 03, 2005 8:24 pm

Miami is in a shocking position. They will have the best NBA Live team, but Antoine Walker needs the basketball in his hands to play well. Ditto for Jason Williams. They will not be effective for the Heat, and if they are, that will take away from Shaq and Wade. Not Smart.

As for the Lakers in 2004, they still made the finals. That isnt that bad of an achievement.. it's not like the blazers in 2001 or Milwalkee in 2002 where they were complete and utter disapointments.

Wed Aug 03, 2005 8:44 pm

This is bad news for Stan Van Gundy. As for the team toine cant play the 3, williams shoot the threes at will, wade wont be getting enough touches, shaq is old and overpaid plus no bench whatsoever. They took a step back. Anyways I wonder if Riley would take over of this team if it doesnt meet the expectations and use it against SVG...

Wed Aug 03, 2005 8:50 pm

the Heat would have been better acquiring Earl Watson and James Posey and tinkering with role players....

C- Shaq/Zo/Doleac
PF- Haslem/Simien (who if healthy, could potentially replace Haslem in lineup)/Laettner
SF- Posey/Butler/Emmett
SG- Wade/Anderson
PG- Watson/D. Jones

might not look like as much on paper, but Watson would have been a lot better fit for Heat than JWill....but JWill should be better impact than Toine....I envision Toine playing a LJ (in NY) type role....parking on the perimeter and hitting the 3 and occasionally coming up big....

jury's out on this one....hope I'm wrong though

EDIT: I thought Earl Watson went to Boston, but trade changed since I had last read it, so I guess that defeats my whole argument, although I still stand by the fact that Heat would be better with Watson than JWill....

Wed Aug 03, 2005 9:03 pm

I agree with X, they better could've brought some role players and young talents in to complement Wade and Shaq. This gives the same problem as when you have such a team in NBA Live, you want to score with everyone, because they're all players that should have a good scoring average based on their talents.. but there's only one ball.

Thu Aug 04, 2005 2:41 am

Well not all trades and transactions have been done. I think Miami can pick up a few players... Plus those guys can also all be traded for something more valuable than just Eddie Jones.

Thu Aug 04, 2005 2:56 am

If Toine and J-Will are willing to take on a lesser role by not shooting so much but participate more on the dirty work (rebounds, assists), Miami could be a dangerous team... but the chemistry looks unpalatable (don't know why this word came to mind, it just did).

I did that in 05 and they're going strong with a 96 rating.

Yeah, dude, you got it! They will certainly win the title! How couldn't they? 99 in Live - that's impossible to beat.

Pistons, Heat, Cavs, Pacers and Nets have all good chance to win the East this year (IMHO). The entire Nets team is in the '04 Pistons position, when the entire team had something to prove and their bench is decent. Cavs will also have great talent on every position along with the best player in the East (at least). Pistons's starters still have a couple of good years left in their tank and will probably upgrade their bench with last years MIAs, Darko, Arroyo&Delfino plus probably somebody else. Pacers will certainly revisit their 2003/04 season. Heat are on the other hand the biggest risk/win situation. Shaq could turn into his old self, Williams could audition for the AND1 Mixtape for the whole season and it's pretty possible that Walker will shoot at least 1900 3pt. But then again, the Big Mouth is hungry and I don't believe burgers are what he needs. This will be one interesting season. East is stacked, Phil is back and once again there are no favourites for the title. Imagine that: 5 legitimate contenders for the title! How many does the West have? Spurs? Dallas? Suns? Rockets? And only two of them - SA and Houston - look improved.
