I got this in a basketball forum ...
As reported from the Houston Chronicle, the rockets will send Bob Sura, David Wesley, Charlie Ward, and the expiring contract of Vin Baker to Portland for Damon Stoudamire and Ruben Patterson. This deal has not been finalized until the new CBA is approved by the NBA Players Association.
I don't know if it's true, there isn't a serious source yet. Do you know more about this trade?

It better not be true...

But the user who posted this got it from an american board, no idea from which one.

Fuck no, I will not allow Vin Baker, Charlie Ward, Bob Sura (maybe) and Wesley to go to Portland
Derek Anderson is a keeper please but Ruben Patterson I don't like
EDIT: by the way, it says in the quoted bit "Houston Cronicle" so it might be from there (google it)

We can only dream, and then suffer for the mistakes people make for your basketball team

If this is indeed true, 1/3 of the GM's in the nba are destroying the nba.

Wouldn't it be better for the Blazers to trade their troublemakers with long contracts (Darius Miles, anyone?). That would allow their young players to develop and free up some cap space in the future. Plus, by trading Miles to the Rockets you wouldn't really help them. There's 91,1% chance that he's would get Van Gundy fired and act gangsta 24/7. But no, they would rather have old undersized SGs who would keep Webster and Outlaw from playing.

Yeah! Damn...so much drama now...
Maybe Wade will complain about Shaq, and he comes back to LA...

The trade looks good to me,even though I liked Wesley.

Interesting trade, if it's real Portland is looking to clear up cap space.
Wesley, Ward, and Baker are all on the last year of their contracts with no player options. The only player that would last past the year is Sura.
But what puzzles me is why?If they wanted to clear up cap space, simply let Stoudamire go without a sign & trade.
Letting Stoudamire go: you lose Stoudamire
- or -
Sign & Trade w/ Houston: lose Stoudamire, lose Patterson; tie up cap space for another year, 2 more w/ Sura.

Weren't you a Spurs fan a month ago?
What'll it be next month? Will you stay in the West? The Lakers? Clippers? Or will you go to the East? The Pistons? The Hawks?
I can't wait to find out!

I agree. Winning a championship is about as boring as it gets.

Do I see your Pacers winning a Championship?
Not everybody is a loyal, whole hearted fan like you....
People need to change but they need to change carefully.
Please respect that

Randolph is going to play 48 mins a game this season. Won't he get fatigue?

Randolph can take it hes a hard worker
And thats a very lopsided trade for the rockets...They are getting a solid PG in stoudamire and a good defensive stopper in Patterson...giving up a PG come SG (at 6'1) in Wesley a not too bad player in Sura and an aging PF in Baker.....
Mon Jul 25, 2005 7:06 pm
Look for Randolph to lead the league in minutes per game this season!

In my opinion, Portland's got the better end of this deal if it turns out to be real. They're getting more in return plus the luxury of expiring contracts. But hardly a bad trade for Houston either.
