At last count, the Wiz had seven offers for Kwame, several of them significant, which summarily erases the Knicks from contention on numerous scores. For some reason, they don't find Michael Sweetney and Jerome Williams ($6.6M/$7M/7.3M) all that appealing.
Hearing aides inform me Washington GM Ernie Grunfeld can have his pick of Memphis' James Posey, Indiana's Fred Jones and the Lakers' Caron Butler.

Memphis won't work for him because he won't get involved enough in the offense or get enough minutes. On a team that's at the cusp of playoff contention or title contention, he won't flourish yet because he hasn't built the confidence in his game (or a relationship with his new coach) to play through (or be allowed to play through) the mistakes he will make as a result of lack of instruction and playing time.

What makes you think he won't get the minutes in Memphis if he is a big man and he most likely will play at the center position and that's a need for the team. He would end up getting minutes even if he comes off the bench because in Memphis, most of the players get decent minutes in a 8 or 9-man rotation and sometime 10. He wouldn't be buried on the bench at all especially if Wright is gone this season. He will also get plenty of help from the likes of a good coaching staff with Fratello, Musselman, Hollins and Barone then you have "The Logo" who attends alot of practices and can help the young player. You made a pretty good point though, and I really don't want him in Memphis as it is because I consider him already a bust and that he won't be no better than a guy that can get maybe 12-14ppg and 7-8rpg.

if he ends up on a lottery team, that probably means he's signing for a big contract. if he goes to a place where he is a primary scorer..
it's all the same. the team's highest paid player and/or highest scorer have to answer for a team's failure
maybe the least amount of pressure he'll have is if he signs the MLE for a halfway decent team. but will kwame & his agent take this kind of offer when he'll more then likely see his other draft classmates get huge new contracts?
a center with 14ppg & 8rpg, sprinkle in some blocks there, and you have a pretty valuable commodity there

According to David Aldridge, the Washington Wizards may already have their potential replacement for Larry Hughes in sight.
Sources involved with the discussions say that the Wizards are talking to the Los Angeles Lakers about a sign-and-trade deal in which forward Kwame Brown, the top pick in the 2001 NBA draft, would go to the Lakers in exchange for swingman Caron Butler.
The Wizards have other options on the table that could bring them a much-needed big man in return for Brown, but Butler would make a lot of sense.
Butler has been available during most of his yearlong stay in Los Angeles. If the Lakers move him and, as expected, release forward Brian Grant in order to save money under the luxury tax, they would have precious little to show for their blockbuster trade of Shaquille O'Neal to Miami.

He is still finding ways to improve his game. Personally, I would love to see Kwame to play for the Hawks because Hawks needs big man. With the Hawks, Kwame can play major minutes and thus he could develop into a great scorer and rebounder.

I really don't like Brown because I really haven't seen him do anything great in his career yet. He may have a good game every now in then, but I'm not impressed with giving up Posey for him.
