I just fell in love with this guy. Long, athletic (40+ inch vertical!) and modest. He may never be on the same level as Kobe or McGrady (shorter and not as all-around talented as he is, even though he's probably already a better ballhandler than T-Mac at his age), but then again... He could still grow and with years, he will certainly gain maturity to be on their level. The thing that suprised me the most, is how grounded this guy is. He may be faking it, but if he isn't, then he's certainly worth of a top 5 pick.

Isn't he about the same height as Kobe and T-Mac? He's listed at 6'8.
Fri May 27, 2005 12:18 am
Well, Kobe is 6'7 and T-Mac is listed at 6'8 (even though he has to be taller than that). So heigth-wise yes, but length is not only associated with player's heigth but also with his wingspan. He says his WS is 6'9, 6'10. Kobe and T-Mac especially can certainly beat that.

Man, I sure hope he can somehow slip into the Raptors' pick... :crosses fingers:

Either way, I think he'll be pretty good.

Well, I sure hope so

. I'm tired of guys like VC, T-Mac and Kobe crying and doing that h-wood thing for the whole season. I hope LeBron, Green, J.R. Smith are part of a new, better wave of swingmen. Keep the style, take the drama away and add more substance.

He definitely has a good attitude, and it sounds like his dad will keep him in check anyways. I like how he says just making an NBA roster is a huge thing to him, he won't refuse to play for anyone. It's nice to see.
Fri May 27, 2005 3:45 am
WOW, he won't refuse to play for a team in the league. Amazing, unless you are a Clipper's pick that is. I find that refreshing, a humble player. Very rare. He sounds like a Spurs player. Dang, can we get him over there with Tim Duncan and the boys in Sliver and Black?

Lol not unless he breaks something in pre-draft camp and can never walk properly again. He might slip to the Spurs pick. Scarily, his vertical has risen... I read an interview with OJ Mayo where they mentioned that Gerald Green took the vertical leap test and the measuring bar wasn't high enough.

Coach: Alright Gerald, you're gonna set a screen here and roll to the rim.
Gerald: I'll have to talk to my dad about that.
Fri May 27, 2005 8:36 am
Wow, that sounded like a joke Coolmac's would've posted...
Fri May 27, 2005 8:44 am
That was actually pretty good
Well it looks like he is trying not to sound like he is the coolest guy in the draft, but you don't want people to make that their first impression. He avoids some of the guys questions pretty good too by saying he have to talk to his dad about it. Hope he ends up doing well in the league though.

I love Gerald too, I saw him play in the Roundball classic, and I played in the same tournament he did 3 years ago, so I got to meet him and see him play (although his team was knocked out before they got a chance to play us)
But, let me play devil's advocate for a second. This guy has Darius Miles writted all over him. Extremely athletic, but a very overrated jump shot. The only thing I would put him over Darius is his knowladge of the game.
I have to say, don't be surprised if not Gerald Green, not Martell Webster but Monta Ellis is the best High-school player in the draft.

God, Toronto better draft this guy. If he develops the way everyone's seeing him as, then he and Bosh will be one hell of a young duo. I always have doubts in the draft though - After what Rob did....

If green makes it to the nba, i hope the team that picks him should give him a decent playing time. I don't want to see players picked high and then being benched..

Miles had NO jumpshot whatsoever, while this guy has legitimate NBA 3-point range (in McDonald's All-American game he finished with 6 of 9 for 3pt. OK, it's closer than in NBA, but still...), good mechanics and - what suprised me the most - he has a midrange game! OMFG! Do you know how rare that is?!

He and Louis Williams are getting on my nerves. I hope they get drafted somewhere in the 2nd round and get stashed on the Clippers bench. When they're 30, they'll wake up in the morning and find themselves playing in some European swamp. Their ego is out of control, they both have zero point guard skills and are seriously undersized for their natural position (SG): Ellis is about 6'4 with shoes, Williams 6'2. Yeah, that's your winning combination right there.
BTW, why is Ellis considered as a borderline 1st round prospect, but Williams is on every mock draft in the 2nd round? I saw some tape and I don't really see the big difference between these two...

He won't last to our pick, and I'm glad. There's no doubt in my mind he would bolt the first chance he got, ala Damon, T-Mac & Vince.
If with their two picks, we ended up with Raymond Felton and a young big man like Johan Petro, Byrum, Blatche, I'd be happy.

although... there could be advantages to this
Mother: Gerald! Go scrub the toilets
Gerald: i'll let my dad take care of it
or
Referee: Technical Foul - Gerald Green
Gerald: It was my dad!

After reading that interview, I think he has an amazing, versatile dad...

Always about his dad, maybe he'll turn out to be like Kwame "I want my mommy" Brown. Emotionally fragile?
