Did you know Shaq is the only

Player to averaged at least 20-10, points and rebounds respectively for at least 13 seasons in the NBA? Not even Kareem, W Chamberlain, The Dream, Moses Malone, and others have accomplished such feature. In his 13 first season he has averaged 26.7 ppg and 12.00 rpg.

Do you think he'll averaged another 20-10 next season? Cast your vote! I believe he will but you never know because is well over 30 years old but he still has 3 or 4 more years of good production left in the tank.

ps. It is amazing how a such a dominant physical specimen never averaged the 30 ppg in an single season.

Thu May 05, 2005 4:13 pm

I say he will, but I don't think he'll be up around his career highs again.

his only problem will be getting the 10rpg. I think he'll do it next season but not sure after that. wouldnt expect him to have less than 9 per game though.

He's still a dominant player, but holding above 9.9 rebounds a game is starting to look unlikely now. That's just my feeling.

He said something like "I could score 40 every night if I shot the motha f**** every time I got it."

His points are pretty good for a guy who has literally zero shooting & dribbling ability. If he can't shoot, there's nothing he can do against the double team except pass out of it. Shooters have the option to just shoot over a double team or drive around it, lose a defender off a screen, tons of things.

He's one of those guys whose #s will drop fast w/ age because virtually all his game comes from his physical dominance and athletic prowess...he is really agile & quick for a 320+ lb guy.

Agree, Udonis has stolen a LOT of rebounds from Shaq, but hey, if it helps the team...

you know what to be honest other than 2000-2002 how good was Shaq really?
Not saying he wasn't good but he had no low post moves ( which is why Rodman could guard him in 1996) if he couldn't dunk he was finished. Phil didn't improved Shaq, Shaq developed a consistent jump hook(whether Phil had anything to do with that I'm not sure) but I hands down gave Shaq the MVP in 2000 becaue no one was close. Before 2000 what kind of dominance did he really have? Swept by the Bulls and Rockets two years in a row. Of course he's big enough to muscle his way into the paint now but before he used to be slightly bigger than David Robinson and more athletic witha powr game but dominate, nah. If he was dominate then, in 2000-2002 he was off the meter( I prefer to say 2000-2001 cause in 2002 he was not as dominate, in the previous years he was unguardable by one player. I just wanted to throw that out there cause I never thought he deserve to be name 50 greatest during the time frame he was elected, Dominique should have gotten that spot back then.

But I don't think he'll be averaging 10 boards and maybe not even 20 points. They'll need to look at getting a quick powerful who can reboud cause he'll be able to clean up simply with the amoount of space Shaq takes up in the paint.

Fri May 06, 2005 12:27 pm

No low-post moves? Drop steps, fakes, spins around the defender...what are those things? Also, Rodman could guard anybody, he was a freak defensively.

Swept by the Bulls and Rockets

You know, those are teh teams that won it all during the 90's. Jordan's Bulls and Dream's Rockets were great teams.

but dominate, nah

Are you kidding me?? Who opened the floor for all the sharpshooters in the team? The reason for that? Shaq getting all the attention in the floor.

I never thought he deserve to be name 50 greatest during the time frame he was elected, Dominique should have gotten that spot back then.

Finally we agree in something, Shaq was like, a 4 year player in the league.

Fri May 06, 2005 12:45 pm

I think a lot of people would agree with that, and I'm one of them. At the time, it was a little premature (it gave more ammunition to his critics when he didn't even bother to show up to take part in the ceremonies) but he belongs there now. He was a powerful force at the time, but his impact on the game wasn't as great and he made it ahead of guys who had been significant players in the league for more than a decade like Dominique Wilkins and Bernard King.

Fri May 06, 2005 3:07 pm

lol at Shaq having no low post moves, Shaq has some of the best low post moves in the league right now, he can do so much it's not even funny. That's definately a good one, saying all Shaq can do is dunk is just so ignorant, it's like saying the only reason he's good is because he's big

I do agree that his Top 5 selection was premature, it was way too early to put him there. I mean Shaq was a very good player, and he had already been to the finals, but it was too early.

Fri May 06, 2005 4:11 pm

I didn't agree with anything you said galvatron3000 except the one that he got "prematurately" selected to the 50 Greatest players. If Shaq is healthy and comes in next season well prepared he will get those 10 rpg and score at least 21 ppg.

Sat May 07, 2005 6:06 am

KG will get 55 seasons in a row of 20-10

Anyways, off the homer-wagon for a second. Shaq is the most dominate player of the 21st century. No questions asked.

Sat May 07, 2005 9:56 am

I also disagree with what galvatron said. You look at Shaq and think he's nothing but then you look at another big guy like Yao Ming or maybe even Vlade Divac (but he's kind of old now) and you see how fast Shaq really is. It looks like these guys play in slow motion compared to Shaq. And Hakeem taught Shaq to dream shake so don't go around saying Shaq has no moves. If you ever watch him play you'll see drop steps, fakes, and offball spins, thats not just standing around and dunking the ball when you get it.

Zero dribbling ability? Just because he doesn't crossover guys like Hakeem did doesn't make him no good. This guy used to run the break in his prime, and once he drove from the perimeter pretty well.

Sun May 08, 2005 10:38 am

He's made over a quarter of a billion dollar in his 13 seasons in both salaries and endorsement deals. He should quit before he hurt himself.

Sun May 08, 2005 12:08 pm

Shaq's spin move was as fast as Hakeem's..
well.. when he first became a Laker.

Sun May 08, 2005 1:03 pm

As quick as Hakeem's? No, not quite. He's never had the repertoire or quickness of Hakeem Olajuwon, but his post game does remain a little underrated.
