I was reading NBA.com transactions to update Andrew's rosters (

) and I came across this:
New Jersey signs Marv Albert to a multiyear agreement to handle play-by-play for the YES Network beginning in 2005-06.
Does this mean he's gone at the end of the year? If so, that really sucks.
I'm surprised nobody posted it, but if they did, my bad.

no he isn't when he isn't working for tnt he's working for YES instead of MSG
Sat Mar 05, 2005 5:48 pm
Kind of ironic, Marv working for the YES network.
Sat Mar 05, 2005 7:26 pm
LOL! Yeah that is kinda Ironic.
He always screams "YES!". I expect an Advertising Campaign.
Marv will do YES Network when he isn't doing PBP for TNT.
He's been with MSG since he started, I believe he called the Willis Reed Game.

Ugghh... YES! Network sucks, isn't Spero Dedes in there?
"What a move... Marv Albert!"

"The spectacular play by Carter"
This sucks, Marv is the best commentator around....
So does this mean he wont feature in EA Sports Live series.....
just kinda off topic......doesnt Kevin Farlan sound almost exactly the same as Marv?

TNT only airs basketball games on Thursday so I'm pretty sure Marv will still stay..

Not necessarily. Unless there's some clause in his YES Network deal (which I somehow doubt, since he's appeared in NBA Live having worked for TNT and the MSG Network in the past), there shouldn't be any conflict.

...and NBA Live has signed a deal with ESPN. Which I think will make the Commentators like Bill Walton appaer in the game.

Have they confirmed that Marv Albert's deal has expired though? Perhaps he will continue to appear while ESPN commentators and graphics will also be part of NBA Live from now on.

Not sure if this is the case, but doesn't EA have the ESPN license for use after this next version of Live ie. it won't be ESPN until 2007?
Sun Mar 06, 2005 2:49 pm
I'm pretty sure EA can use the ESPN product. Sega already renamed their games away from "ESPN".
I hope that EA doesn't hire Tom Tolbert (who knows absolutely nothing about basketball) and Bill Walton as their commentators. That would be pure hell.
Tom Tolbert on ESPN videogames:
A rare rebound by *some scrub here*!
I don't understand why players take long two's. They should just step back and take threes.

I think you're right, actually. I suppose Marv's involvement won't be a question until then.

I agree wholeheartedly about Tom Tolbert. Bill Walton isn't my favourite commentator, but I can't stand Tolbert.

Marv n the Czar had a huge impact....I think its prolly the best commentary team for any sports game ever.....course I did like Kevin Calabro and Marques Johnson in NBA Inside Drive 2000....but Marv n Mike made the game alot more interesting aswell...
Its really gonna be a big miss with Czar obviously gone but loosing Marv will be terrible.....specially when their replacements r gonna be those ESPN commentators.....their so damn boring, Walton is a biased beef jerky n well the others r all mutts....
btw what happend to Greg Papa?, he featured in the Fox Sports NBA 2000....hes a pretty fun commentator too...is he still around?
