NBA Draft 2005

Mon Feb 14, 2005 12:30 am

Ok,let's make this topic to default one for NBA Draft 2005.Talk about picks,strategies...I just want that you guys remember three names for next season-Vujanic[already drafted by Phoenix and traded to the Knicks],Koljevic[great PG] and Aleksandrov[talented SG/SF].
Do you have your favourites?

Mon Feb 14, 2005 12:31 am

Nemanja Aleksandrov will not enter the draft.

Mon Feb 14, 2005 2:01 am

I can't wait to see Hakeem Warrick and Chris Paul in action in the NBA (Y)

Mon Feb 14, 2005 2:13 am

i don't know anything about draft prospects since i'm not into the ncaa nor the euroleague. that's why the only names i know are hakeem warrick(i think he's got a diary in slam), chris paul(was checking out the pg's for DOSL) and andrew bogut (lot's of aussies here plus he's in slam)

Mon Feb 14, 2005 2:47 am

That Terrapin dude, Carner-Medley.
He impressed me man, I'm serious.
Just great, shoots the 3, finishes inside, he's good.

Also, about future stars, wait 4 years and go check on Kirk Hinrich... scary!! (Y)

same here....big Warrick fan....wanna see him get a team where he can get some big minutes.....

Im kinda upset Hassan Adams isnt gonna enter it......Ive seen the kid play since High School and use to see him on ESPN's The Life.....kinda have a history connection like I have with JR since you practically see them from the start of their REAL career.

Mon Feb 14, 2005 7:56 am

Andrew Bogut! Andrew Bogut! Andrew Bogut!

All the hype from the Aussies... when none in the Sates jknow him! :)

Mon Feb 14, 2005 11:28 am

aleksandrov already declared like a month after the 04 draft he was entering this one. sucks for him because he wont even get drafted in late lottery til '06!

boguts surpringly doing well. never seen him play, but i hear his FG% is bloated because he faces 6'8" centers and stuff. course, the double and triple teams are usually there, but i dont see his competition to be good enough for #1.

taft is surely the biggest mock-draft-bust so far.. he scored 1 point in that game when his team barely beat chris thomas's notre dame.. sad as hell for the "next kg".

UNC-
rashad mccants baby.. the undersized 2guard'll be lottery and he'll be a better ball player than joe forte. hopefully he'll be an effective starter for years to come.

raymond felton looks to me as the star pg. chris paul is probably going to be better (OMG IS THIS CAT A SMART BALL PLAYER, TO GO ALONG WITH HIS MADASS SKILLS), but i like raymond felton because he's similar to chris paul, just stronger.

sean may doesnt look like he'll have a good pro year, but hopefully he'll have a good year or 2 in the league. i can't see him in the 1st round of any year, but i hope he'll become a strong contributor.

USC-
no one's entering the draft, but loddrick (or rodrick) stewarts said he'll test the draft. he won't get drafted (he's not much better than desmon farmer) but i hope he'll do good enough in the pre-draft camps to be considered, only to return and improve his stock.

sc's best bball prospects are gabriel putritt and nick young. i especially like nick young because he's an athletic wing player with a developing long-range game. gabriel is ranked higher than him because he's pretty good, overall. he's a 6'4" PG, and that's perf. height. he's got a good 3point jumpshot and his passing is goign to be better. i'm rootin' for these two to make the NBA..

ucla (although not a big fan) has dijon thompson. i hope to hell he gets drafted in the 1st round (late, but better than 2nd round). he's totally changed his attitude and he's starting to play defense and crashing the boards (although the last couple of games, he's drifted away from the banging down low). he's a 6'8 2guard in the nba, but ucla needs him to play the 4. i'm glad he's willing to sacrifice his development at the 2 and slowly develop into a better 2/3. it shows heart (something he didn't have in his first 3 years) and coachability. he'll turn out to be a decent role player.

i hope marvin williams (bandwagon'd him last year, when he was the only elite athlete high school player to go to college, let alone my fave bball college team) and rudy gay will compete for #1 in '06 draft. i dont want marvin to leave college yet.

more to come from me, but i just don't want to waste all my time talkin about it yet.

I've only seen a few NCAA games, McNamerra from Syracuse(I think) is a really good shooter, he could probably be a solid catch and shoot guy in the NBA. Also there's that bald dude with no eyebrows in Uconn that could be a solid PF in the NBA.
Is Josh Boone entering the draft?

Mon Feb 14, 2005 2:55 pm

Jason Maxiell - Cincinatti
Daniel Ewing - Duke
J.J. Reddick - Duke
Rashad McCants - UNC
"Everybody Loves" Raymond Felton - UNC
Sheldon Williams - Duke (Maybe)
Demarcus Nelson - Duke (Give the man 2-3 Years and he'll be NBA Ready)

Guys to watch for:

JAMES "FLIGHT" WHITE - Cincinatti (Watch out for this dude, he can leap like a motherfucking kangaroo)

charlie villanueva?

Yeah. Charlie Villaneuva, he looks scary.

Mon Feb 14, 2005 3:21 pm

Ersan Ilyasova. I have no idea who this is but he's on my sim league team.

Mon Feb 14, 2005 5:14 pm

Theirs this guy in our league (high school) that looks exactly like villanueva. pretty freaky, yes. he's got no eyebrows, let alone hair.

villanueva isn't going to enter the draft this year though. he looks lazy, and when he wants to try, it's a lil too late because he has confidence problems. his stats aren't worthy enough to be drafted this year. he's should enter '06 when he refines his game more. he's one helluva athlete but just hasn't lived up to his billing since withdrawing from the nbadraft. (N)

about james white. yeah this kids an athletic freak, but likely to go 2nd round next year (iono if he really wants to go this year). his skills just arent refined and he's about 21/22. that kinda says alot. no doubt he could win the slam dunk contest for the nba right now (did you see his between the legs from FT LINE!?) but his skills aren't up to par yet. i am glad, though, that he had that amazing 24 point game where he was getting layups and show casing his improved jumpshot (Y)

is daniel ewing that good? i can't see him play as a PG in the nba. and jj redick looks like he's suffering from whiteman's disease and be the epitome of the "blake stepp effect": great college ball player but not good enough for the pros. gl to him though.

Yes, Reddick can bomb the 3 anyday.

Daniel Ewing is that good, he starts for Duke at the SG position.

James White could be a solid bench player for an NBA Team soon. He starts at SF for Cincy.

And YES, His Free Throw Line Through The Legs was Ridiculous.

Mon Feb 14, 2005 6:31 pm

two words: MARVIN WILLIAMS

he was thinking about jumpin to the NBA last year, but decided to go to UNC. Most likely will be the #1 pick

Mon Feb 14, 2005 7:53 pm

Luke S is not deserving any attention... lol

Hey is that asian guy joining the NBA in 05 or 06??? I forgot his name...

Mon Feb 14, 2005 8:51 pm

Yi Jianlan or something... he blows, sucked in the Olympics.

Mon Feb 14, 2005 8:55 pm

Isn't that the guy that everyone thought was like 16 years old and he was really 18 ?

Mon Feb 14, 2005 9:17 pm

Julius Hodge - NC State
CJ Miles - Texas HS Senior
Daniel Gibson - Texas
Salim Stoudamire - Arizona

A few more players that will be interested to see.....specially Hodge, hes so versatile....reminds me of Penny....

 yeah that was him. I find it kinda funny that these African and Asian countries seem to be able to sneak players into sports leagues while maintaining they're younger than they actually are. See: Dikembe Retardo.

Mon Feb 14, 2005 10:54 pm

The draftees who I'll be keeping an eye on:
    C/F- Andrew Bogut (Utah)
    G- Chris Paul (Wake Forest)
    F- Hakim Warrick (Syracuse)
    G- Nate Robinson (Washington)
    G- Travis Diener (Marquette)
    C- Luke Schenscher (Georgia Tech)

Tue Feb 15, 2005 1:28 am

two words: MARVIN WILLIAMS

he was thinking about jumpin to the NBA last year, but decided to go to UNC. Most likely will be the #1 pick

Marvin is overatted, he's basically a tweener, and he's also very bad defensively.

James White is at best a 2nd round pick, he will likely get drafted on pure athletic ability, but who knows how much he can impact. He's improved his jumper, and is a pretty good passer, but he's going to need more than that as a swingman in the NBA.

Nate Robinson is a guy I'd hope for the Raptors to get in the 2nd round, he's improving his PG skills, and his athleticism is just great.

C- Luke Schenscher (Georgia Tech)

I don't think he will be a player that does good in the NBA, he's one of those guys that is just tall.

the Pakistan cricket team is the worst.......

Arjuna Ranatunga(u guys prolly hate him)....in an interview he said that one day he had apparently met one of the Paki cricketers after a match....so then the Paki cricketer had introduced Arjuna to his children....the children were apparently 12 and 8....which Arjuna find quite amusing since the Paki cricketer claimed to be 20 years old.

the reason why D/O/B's r wrong is cause most r born in lil houses and not in hospitals....so they always end up with wrongly dated birth certificates....some get their certificates even like 6-7 months later....or some even purposely get them altered...so that their kids look mature and wont have problems of looking inmature in school...:)
