Tue Feb 01, 2005 2:23 am
It gives you a "cool" look, just like high socks.
Tue Feb 01, 2005 2:31 am
high socks make you look like a tool and are grounds for an ass whoopin

Yeah, for two weeks he has been highlighted now, doesn't matter ESPN or NBA.com, for his crazy layups. But Manu is doing the same the last week.
But this headband-slip-down-story is just crazy. In one game I even
lost it while fighting for a rebound.

True, I even know dudes who wear 1 high sock and no sock on the other leg. That's just hideous, I never take someone serious after that kind of stuff...
ps. IMO headbands only look good with short hair, I cut it real short so I can wear a headband without looking like Brad Miller.

I really dislike those kind of players. Whats worse if they do a headband / 1 high sock / Arm sleeve / Calf sleeve combo for no particular reason. I used to wear a headband a few years ago, untill the whole And1 mixtape and street image took over the game of basketball and no every team has about 2 or 3 of those "Yo Ima cross ya up homez in da 3 minutez ma coach lemme play yall" players with the correct accesory ofcourse to complete the image.

i wore a headband for my first game, first half freshman year, my numbers were 0 points, 0 rebounds, 1 assist, 5 turnovers.
i took off the headband at halftime and i finished with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists, 6 to's.
i am the anti-headband

Headbands are better for no hair players, because hair also usually holds sweat from your eyes quite effectively.
Players who dont use headbands usually use elbow armbands for the same reason to get sweat off the face ingame.
Those showoffs though are just silly imho, just a distraction for actual gameplay. Player looks good when he does something crazy, not because he looks cool having all those accesories on.

Yes...We have quite a few (and by quite a few, I mean the whole team besides my friend, Nick and I) of these people on my team...

That's sick!
I used to wear headbands and sweatbands and stuff for no reason and be one of those "Yo Ima Cross You Up" kids. That was back when And 1 was the thing that got me into basketball in the first place. Then I started watching real basketball, NBA games and old highlights of Magic and Jordan, and I stopped acting gangsta and started playing right. the headband is collecting dust in my drawer atm.
I wouldn't wear a headband with lon hair. I might look like Scott Pollard

hight socks are grounds for an ass whoopin i dont think you would have said that to alot of the legend ballers of the past. they probably would have kicked your ass
High Socks are always used when teams use retro jerseys. just to get a feal of how games were back then. doesnt mean your a tool and people are gonna try and kick your ass. you were misinformed
now trying to look the part is stupid if you got no game. but let people be who they want even if they try to be something they are not just laugh at them or cross them up yourself.

Maybe if you're pre-pubescent and barely sweat at all your hair does something in the way of halting the flwo of sweat. Otherwise, it does nothing.

It was a nice play but he already knew where the basket was because he got it knocked off when he was in the air.
but still, nice play none the less.
