3 games.....21 blocks....that's 7bpg, and he won't maintain that average but damn this guy can block
i hope he wins DPOY cos IMO he's the best defender in the L....last season he was playing crazy D against Garnett, Duncan, KMart, R Wallace, J Oneal, Gasol, Nowitzki etc and on most nights he gave up significant weight
imagine him playing alongside Ben Wallace....it'd be a swat-a-thon
Sun Nov 07, 2004 3:37 pm
Anther interesting stat is both the Suns & Jazz are both 3-0 with an average of 24point blow out games
that wont stay either of course

Ya, Kirilenko may be arguably the best all-around player in the league. He is an amazing defender, maybe the best in the league. He just needs a consistent shot and he's got it all.
Sun Nov 07, 2004 5:26 pm
agreed.. kirilenko is like a mix of ben wallace/ron artest/bruce bowen.. the guy's simply a freak of nature.. imagine what would happen if he bulked up somewhat, that'd be nuts
Sun Nov 07, 2004 9:31 pm
not just that he played good def on TD, KG, Jermaine, Kmart and all the big guys.. he usually is put on Kobe/Pierce/Mcgrady too.. and is amazing..
hes fast as like the Tmac with like a 7 footer wingspan
Sun Nov 07, 2004 11:40 pm
ad to that the fact that he's only going to get BETTER
Mon Nov 08, 2004 4:07 am
ak47 doesnt need to bulk up that much, especially if he's playing SF. his plastic man like build gives him an advantage. those block totals are pretty sick
Mon Nov 08, 2004 4:20 am
Those are some crazy numbers
Mon Nov 08, 2004 4:53 am
He's on my fantasy team thank god. I've won blocks every day he plays with him, rasheed, emeka, dwight, and jermaine.
He is a stellar player. I got a chance to watch the first game and he was always at the ball. And there was another block he made but didn't get credit for too.

oops yeah, kinda forgot they have a capable PF in boozer.
did anyone see anthony beat kirilenko with a drop step, but kirilenko quickly recovered and swatted his shot? that was funny as hell
he did it to k-mart too
Mon Nov 08, 2004 7:38 pm
simply put.....no one can fck with Kirilenko....he'll give his man a step advantage to tease him and then SWAT! into the stands the ball goes....whoever said Euro players are soft must of never seen Kirilenko toy with ppl

"We have a tendency to let people go where they want to on defense because we want to block shots," said coach Jerry Sloan, who complained about Kirilenko's unconventional habit of allowing his opponet to get past him, then poke the shot away from behind.
Still, Sloan appreciates Kirilenko's overall game, and the fact that he doesn't have to score to affect a game. The Russian forward made only three of 13 shots against the Nuggets, for example, but grabbed five offensive rebounds, made three steals and handed out three assists.
"That's who he is," Sloan said. "People think Andrei is going to get you 25 points a night, [but] that's not his game. Probably never will be. It's nice when he gets 20, 25 points, but that's not who he is. And that's where he gets in trouble, when he tries to be somebody he's not."
Kirilenko is mean, trying to embarass all the other players.
Tue Nov 09, 2004 1:22 pm
yeah Kirilenko is one mean mofo...move over Artest and Wallace
halftime, he's got 4 blocks already against the Nuggets
his 7bpg looks good for now....it'd be the funniest thing of Earl Boykins ever dunks on Kirilenko
Tue Nov 09, 2004 2:35 pm
lol god look at his stats again tonight
24 points, 6 boards, 4 assists, 4 steals, 5 blocks
.. this is ridiculous, if i knew i was matched up with him that night i would just pack my bags and go home.. this guy's like rip, he never gets tired.. EVER
Tue Nov 09, 2004 3:10 pm
This guy is was all over the court today against Denver. Utah is an amazing, well-coached team.
But man, Kirilenko gets a block against Melo that goes straight to Boykins, and then intercepts the pass thrown to Camby...His game is all about energy, I could see Utah getting deep into the playoffs.
Tue Nov 09, 2004 3:15 pm
Lol geez... Kirilenko's going to be the most feared player in the NBA in no time if he keeps this up.

With that game, he's "only" averaging 6.5 blocks per game. If he keeps up this kind of pace all year he'll have a good shot at breaking the record for blocks per game in the regular season, coincidentally set by a former Jazz player (7'4" centre Mark Eaton, 5.6 bpg back in 1985).

maybe we should tweak the nba sliders just like NBA Live 05 too much blocking.
hey maybe AK47 play live 05 and was inspired to see more blocks.
Wed Nov 10, 2004 8:09 am
His stat lines the last few games have been simply amazing
Wed Nov 10, 2004 3:45 pm
he's filling up the stat sheet.....only KG does better across the board
Wed Nov 10, 2004 6:00 pm
makes me consider some sort of trade in my dynasty involving richard jefferson to the jazz for kirilenko........
truly amazing stats. i've always liked him, but god...who knew he would be this big of a beast?
Thu Nov 11, 2004 1:28 am
his stock will rise considerably after this season....i wonder if he'll make the All-Star starters.....going by his game he has a chance but its all popularity anyways
Thu Nov 11, 2004 2:08 am
Utah can be happy for having him locked up with a longterm extension, right before the season started.
TBE
Thu Nov 11, 2004 3:48 pm
damn, he only blocked 3 shots against the Raptors and they lost
Thu Nov 11, 2004 3:54 pm
Don't worry Matt, we can stay on Kirilenko-watch for the rest of the season... I'm sure he'll get a whole heap of blocks in the future
