6 players out due to injury... latest one was Reggie Miller and his non-shooting hand! He could miss 6 weeks, Johnson and Foster out for 6-8.. and O'neal is out for first game...
Sat Oct 30, 2004 7:31 pm
looks like ron artest is gonna be the focal point of the offense now.. him and stephen jackson, i wanna see how this works out
Sun Oct 31, 2004 2:34 am
Six players? That's crazy.
I guess they might start the season poorly but I want to see how quickly they rebound when everyone is healthy again.
Sun Oct 31, 2004 11:37 am
Well... I know for sure three are serious... and Jermaine is indefinite and Jonathon Bender broke siomething... butI havent heard how long Benders out for...

Big Pacers fan here...
Yes, looks like they're going to have a very tough 6-8 weeks

. But I believe that coach Carlisle (and Mr. Bird

) will make the necessary adjustments and they are going to be just fine. The key will be the play of Croshere and Pollard I think...and Artest and Jacskon of course --but I excpect those two to play good b-ball, while with Croshere and Pollard you're not sure. I think Croshere is a great player if he just gets the minutes. Now he has a chance to prove it.

Atl east after a week Pacers still have a good Starting Five:
C: O'neal
PF: Chroshere
SF: Artest
SG: Jackson
PG: Tinsley
I'm not sure who plays PF for Indiana and if they

I don't think they would play Jermaine O'neal as a C. Even if they do start Pollard and move Croshere to the bench their team still doesn't look half bad.
Sun Oct 31, 2004 2:05 pm
Pollard will be the starting C, and I guess Croshere will be the 6th man. But in the 1st game that O'Neal is gonna miss (or more?) I think Croshere will be the starting PF.

well u guys are the pacers fans... They will still compete with guys out... it would turn to hell if Artest or O'neal got injured for a long period of time
Sun Oct 31, 2004 5:07 pm
damn, two key players and two injuries. Not a good way to start the season.

Injuries are always bad... especially when star players go down... or if u are Grant Hill!
Mon Nov 01, 2004 3:01 am
Yup, sucks big time. I guess we might as well get these injuries out of the way now and be healthy at the end. Im hyped to see how Artest and Jax can handle 48 min a game though.
C- Pollard
Pf- Bender/ Chroshere
Sf- Artest
Sg- Jax
Pg- Tinsley
That isnt too bad of a starting lineup, all im hopin is we are atleast .500 or better by the time JO gets back.
Mon Nov 01, 2004 7:57 am
Too bad Benders injured.. haha.
Mon Nov 01, 2004 8:56 am
i believe indiana won't be able to count on following players

JO (just read-expected to miss 2-4 weeks

), johnson, harrison, bender (he'll be back soon i hope), foster and reggie..not to good

..starting lineup:
Pollard
Croshere
Artest
Jackson
Tinsley
key players will be pollard, croshere and f. jones..no matter what, i still count that they will be over .500..it's gonna be very interesting, can't wait 'till start of the season!

Bender will be ready for minutes once the season starts or possibly a few games later. Either way its crucial we don't rush guys back because theres just too many games ahead too play.
Mon Nov 01, 2004 5:26 pm
looks like Detroit has won the Central before the season has started
Mon Nov 01, 2004 9:06 pm
Don't be overconfident, it could be your teams downfall.
I speak from experience.
Tue Nov 02, 2004 12:56 am
meh, I'm not overconfident.....it's just gives the Pistons an advantage, and if the Pistons remain relatively injury free it's hard to see them NOT get the #1 seed in the East.
Tue Nov 02, 2004 7:21 am
Its only the beginning of the season. They are gonna make the playoffs regardless. It matters only in the postseason.THeyll get there stuff together.

Well, gues what...
QUOTE:
"CLEVELAND (AP) -- Indiana forward Ron Artest sat out Wednesday night's opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers with a sore right knee, joining four other injured Pacers on the sideline.
Artest, who averaged 21.4 points during the exhibition season, had been expected to play, but the team decided to give him more rest. He missed part of the preseason with the injury.
He'll sit out along with Jermaine O'Neal (sore foot), Reggie Miller (broken hand), Jeff Foster (right hip) and Anthony Johnson (broken hand)."
Huh!
Thu Nov 04, 2004 10:33 am
Hmmm...never mind my previous post about Artest not playing tonight. Just checked NBA Courtslide Live on nba.com and saw he's playing -- and playing well.

Classic game. Double ot with the Pacers winning 109-104
Ron did play, scored 31 points, with 9 rebounds. The game ball goes to Chroshere who hits some big threes and fts at the end to win the game.He came up with 20 points. Pollard looked like his old self with 10 points and 10 rebounds with a clutch block at the end. Bender and Tinsley played silent but huge roles. Bender had 11 points ins 16 min. Tinsley had 15 points and 14 assists.
