Riley may return to coaching

Or at least, that's what this article suggests: Can Riley stay out of the kitchen?

Riley has had quite a bit of success coaching big men to say the least, though it would be unfortunate for Stan Van Gundy who did a pretty good job in his first season as a head coach, much better than most people would have expected.

As good as Van Gundy & O'Neal could be...Riley & O'Neal could be better.

Now, don't get me wrong. As you said, nobody expected as much from Van Gundy but seriously, we're talking about Pat Riley here.

I for one wouldn't mind him becoming the coach. :D

He'd just make Shaq look better than he already is.

Obviously you're entitled to your opinion, but what makes him a bad coach? I believe he coached the Lakers to four of their five titles during the 80s and has guided his team to the playoffs in practically every season he's been a head coach (the last few years in Miami with a depleted team being a notable exception).

He has a reputation for pushing his players pretty hard, but ultimately it seems to yield good results. He may not have won a title since 1988, but his teams have almost always been legitimate title contendors. He seems a perfect fit for any team with an All-Star big man.

If Riley came back just because of Shaq and basically kicks Stan Van Gundy out I would be very upset.

He left, it's not fair to boot him out just because you want to coach now especially after that great year they had. Pat Riley should stay back!
