European expansion not happening yet

Lack of arenas in Europe deters NBA

Stern still believes it will happen. I really don't know why he's still trying. International teams have no place in a national league. There's the question of travel and the possibility of players being traded across oceans...I don't think a World Basketball League would work out as well as Stern might hope.

A few more international tournaments featuring each league's champions (like the McDonalds' Open) would be nice, but I think each country should have its own professional league. The nature of the NBA - the rookie draft, trades and so forth - doesn't seem suited to a league that would span the globe.

yah, it will be hard for the teams to go overseas and their schedules are gonna be messed up since flights from country to country takes so long...

Agreed. It's a little different expanding into other countries within the same continent; it's still a little closer to home than London, Paris, Madrid or Berlin (to name just a few possibilities) for most NBA players.

I think that there should be a European league that is sponsored by the NBA. Those teams (around 8-10) can compete for 2 spots to play in the NBA playoffs. Sounds crazy but players traveling to Europe for games causes too much chaos.

I don't like the idea of two teams from another league knocking out two teams from another league. They wouldn't even compete.
