Aussie charged with selling bogus Lakers tickets

The Sydney Morning Herald wrote:An Australian who allegedly sold about $78,000 worth of LA Lakers basketball season tickets to buyers who never received them was charged with grand theft, US authorities said.

Scott Raymond Thomas, 26, was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport yesterday after he stepped off a plane, said Deputy District Attorney Jeff McGrath.

Thomas is to appear in court on on three charges of grand theft and two of attempted grand theft. If convicted, he could face up to five years in a Californian prison.

And here we were thinking that nobody else in Australia cared about basketball anymore...

And within the next few weeks the NLSC's funding will mysteriously dry up.

Hey, as long as a few people band together to create www.freeandrew.com, I'll be fine.

Only Australians would be stupid enough to buy dogdy NBA tickets.

Perhaps the NLSC should start asking for donations just incase... I still have that piece of cheese somewhere...

And the guy who sold the fake tickets? Pretty simple why. He's like me and wants to puke that the Lakers who we love to hate are in the finals against the Pistons! It's a lose/lose situation for fans so he's trying to get as many people as possible not to see the games. He should know there are easier ways to ruin the finals!

But on a serious note it would be un-Australian to hate on the guy... he "had a go"
