Great read, pretty much sums up the post-Jordan Bulls. Krause may have assembled six championship teams, but the way he broke up the final sixth team pretty much ruined the rebuilding effort - which of course is what he was trying to avoid doing.

So much for Krause's draft night dream of 2001, when he selected Curry, traded Elton Brand for Chandler and thought two teenagers could develop and dominate the hoops planet. If he'd simply stuck with some of his original decisions and kept a nucleus of Brand, Brad Miller and Ron Artest, this team would have earned a couple of playoff berths by now.

Yes! Exactly! One of the most frustrating aspects of this rebuilding phase is the constant change of plans. The Clippers have been doing that for years; the last time they made the playoffs was 1997. There have been too many changes that have ultimately proven to be the wrong changes.

I know where you're comming from. I gave up a while ago, around the time I said Kirk Hinrich should pretty much be the only untouchable (can't remember who else I added, Gill maybe) commodity.

Shit just isn't working and I'm already thinking about next season. I'm seeing a positive right now in the talk of how hard the players are going to have to work this offseason to change things up. In a way I want to see the young guys go through that and see how they come out of it, but on the other hand, they have been given years already to make something happen and they should be shipped off. Jamal Crawford is as much a problem as he is a solution. I think the Bulls need more of a natural two guard, but I there isn't anything in New York that would look good on the Bulls roster apart from Starbury. Fuck Houston, if they bring him in we'll be wishing back Jalen Rose!

This season was the first time I really really felt pissed off about the Bulls strugles because of all the hype about them competing. In previous seasons losing was expected. But now I'm just sick of it, and know the season is over. I'm sick of reading the same shit about the three "C's" and watching this ticking time bomb. There is always something stunning their development, some excuse. It's getting lame, and stale, and worst of all we really can't get the players that will make a difference. Players that make a difference aren't given away for lame ass highschoolers unless your name is Krause.

It's also hard to know who to keep, and hard to let go of the notion that each of the three "C's" is unique and could develop into something "special". Curry is the rare big man, Chandler was supposed to be the next Garnett, and I've read all these things about Crawford being lightning quick and "slippery" offensively. But in reality, they can probably be replaced with the exception of Curry, who should be worked until he bleads this summer.

Give us Finley or preferably Ray Allen and we'll give up Crawford, Chandler and whoever else. We'll hold onto Hinrich and Curry (until next season during which if he hasn't dramatically improved he can be dealt). Get a guy who makes a difference at the two or three from trading Crawford or whoever, and fill out the rest of the team with solid vets like Gill.

I think it would be REALLY funny if Chicago change plans again, trade away 2 of the 3 C's and they develop into all stars on other teams. now THAT, my friends, would be Hi-Larious.

That Barnsey, that is probably what will happen. The recent plans have all revolved around the three "C's" so these plan changes which Andrew noted were frustrating were happening, but in recent times the 3 "C's" have remained as the 'constant', while Artest, Rose, Baxter, Marshall, Miller and so on have been shown the door. Crawf, Curry, Chandler have remained while those other players were being exchanged to built around the three C's. The foundation really, has remained while those around them were moved.

First there was the Brand/Artest plan, then that turned into the three "C's" plan. The building blocks of the future have only been changed a couple of times. Those other trades which brought in guys like Rose were just supposed to be pieces of the puzzle, veteran guys to help develop the youngsters. So while it is frustrating, it is perhaps time to scrap plan 2, and start again. Let Pax do it his way.

As for players developing on other teams, that will probably happen too if the Bulls trade away some of these guys. The Bulls have simply had too many very young undeveloped players for too long. Minutes have been split to accomodate and "develop" a lot of players, and so a lot of these guys didn't get enough minutes to show their worth until they got to other teams. Artest went to Indiana and showed he was better than what everyone thought. Brand was already solid and proved what a commodity he really was/is. Brad Miller all of a sudden is a terrific all-round big guy.
Crawford, Chandler, Eddie Robinson, even Marcus Fizer will prove to be good players once they get into another situation, better players than they were in Chicago. But in Chicago they play for weak teams, and over the last few years have had inconsistent minutes, injuries, poor coaching and so on.

So now I'm looking forward to the offseason. I think Scott Skiles is a good fit for the team. He has been pretty up front with the media, and hasn't babied the team too much. I wanna see Curry get whipped into shape, and a new player who doesn't need to develop, but can step in and be the man, and not a freakin bitch.

C - A fit and mean Eddy Curry, playing just under 40 minutes.

PF - who ever. You have JYD and AD who might be around. Fizer is there too. Chandler can be dealt so long as he is healthy and has some value. A power forward needs to be tough and solid, Tyson apparently doesn't have the skills of a SF, or the build of a PF. Too much trouble than he's worth, so deal him.

SF - That contributing developed player who should be brought in.

SG - same as above. He should be a shooting guard or small forward.

PG - Hinrich, with a solid veteran back up. Brunson, Doug Overton, Jeff Mcinnis, etc.

The three fixtures are, Curry, ???, and Hinrich.
