Carter In Dunk Contest

This article talks about Carters possible return to the dunk contest.
Personally I completely disagree with the commentator when he says NO to not entering the contest. Every person who watches the NBA have been dieing to see Vince enter the NBA so he definately should. I believe he can still beat younger guys like J-Rich, Mason, and LeBron.

Do you guys think he can still win against these new young dunkers and what is your opionion on whether he should enter.

PS. There is also an audio status of Carters injury on the raptors page

He got injured o I don't know if he'll want to, but it would be reall nice if he did.

The article was made after he was injured and if you listen to Carter's audio about the injury he is not worried about it at all.

Really I feel he doesn't need to, but I'd like to see him spank J-Rich, DMase, Lebron etc.

it'd be great to see it.. but i dunno, i doubt that VC would enter the dunk contest

if he does do it, he better bring some creative stuff.. i'm tired of seein' J-Rich and his self-oops

I'd like to see more veterans in the contest, like the old days when anyone who could entertain the crowd with spectacular dunks could enter if they wanted. If Vince is healthy and willing, there's plenty of people willing to watch him give it a shot. If he wants to compete, let him compete.

If vince can get back in the dunk contest, doesnt that mean alot of other guys can too? Like T-Mac, ricky davis, d-mase, etc? Does this mean that they're changing the rules?

it appears that NBA is sticking to their stupid rules. so i seriously doubt vince entering the contest.

The Sprite Rising Stars Slam Dunk will showcase four of the league’s youngest high-flyers in a two-round competition. The competition will be open to NBA players who are currently playing in their first three years in the league. Last year, Golden State Warriors Guard Jason Richardson defended his title and won the 2003 Sprite Rising Stars Slam Dunk competition for the second consecutive year.

This probably means another 3-on-3 Hoop It Up Challenge. I hoped the NBA would seriously consider extending the contest after last year's proved to be one of the most entertaining in recent memory (light years ahead of the 2002 contest).

According to that link by nublu01 Vince Carter cannot enter the competition because the three year rule is in effect. That is the stupidest rule I have ever heard and should be changed.

Hopefully they will bend the the rules because it's Carter and everyone would love to see him in it again.

Vince Carter is an over-injured, underachieving hack. The Raptors should get out before he becomes the next Grant Hill.

Fri Jan 23, 2004 9:28 am

It's official. Vince Carter will not be in the slam dunk competition.

This is not by choice, but because the NBA is enforcing the three year rule. Vince is in his fifth season as a player and is uneligable to enter.

It's ashame to see an excellent dunker like him not able to particapate.

That is fucked I agree.. i still think Richardson would win just becuase vince isnt the same dunker he was in 2000... if it was vince from 2000, it would be no contest.
