It's Offical

Well, with all the hype the Lakers got this year expected to break or tie the Bulls regular season record with 4 future hall of famers, it turns out they will not do it with tonights lost vs. the Nuggets.
Bulls went 72-10
Lakers right now are 21-11

I don't even think the Lakers will even win 60 this year, probably around 55 I think.

Damn!! Do you want to break my heart?? I thought it was Rasheed goin'to New York!!! To hell with this thread!!! :D

I can't pretend I'm disappointed the Bulls will still hold that record. But right now it's difficult for the Lakers to chase such records, given how weak their frontcourt is with Shaq and the Mailman nursing injuries.

At their current pace, the Lakers will win 50-55 games this season. However, things will pick up when O'Neal and Malone return. I'm still predicting at least 60 wins.

I think they still have a shot at 33 in a row. Hopefully these losses will show Kobe that he can't win without frontcourt help and maybe now he defers to Shaq.

Me too man!!!! I thought this was about Sheed and the Knicks.
Damn Lakers. :?

Since we're all coming clean, I too thought it was related to the Sheed rumours, given that Amphatoast is a Knicks fan.

If Shaq and Malone aren't out too long, they most definitely have a shot. They have 50 games remaining. A 33-17 or better finish isn't out of the question, though 33 in a row is a tall order.

definatly not..Kings,Mavs,Wolves,Spurs all have chances of knocking the Lakers down...

Lakers look weaker than i thought..
I am not so sure they will win it all this year..
Malone comes back from injury.. will he be that productive? maybe it will take 5 mins from his per game average?

Shaq.. okay say he is healthy.. but you know how they don't get Shaq the ball that much.. And with his free throw struggles..
But he will make Lakers 1 of da better def teams still..

Kobe will play well, Payton will produce his 15 and 7 ..
George is doing horrible without being open all the time.. Fisher is struggling this year.. They lost Madsen and Horry which would really make their front court depth superior to most teams..
Slava and Walton are not reliable bench players.. Russell is getting old.. They don't have a 6th man scorer.. this is OKAY when they have all their guns.. but they don't..

Even with them all healthy.. Their lack of bench production.. Malone's issues, Shaq's health and ft shooting.. They are not a sure win it all..

I like the Wolves this year.. Kings.. i'll see how they do with Webber.. Spurs tho look like a championship team.. MVP Tim Duncan.. dominating.. Young guys.. Malik Rose, Hedo, Mercer, Horry off the bench.. definetly a strong bench.. Parker clutch and Manu's presences.. They can match up with anyone..
But i still like the wolves.. seeing them dominate with their big 3 is more impressive than Spurs amazing team def + coached well and one dominating player..

Thu Jan 08, 2004 5:15 pm

Agreed... Wolves look very impressive... Take into consideration that they are playin' without Troy Hudson, Mike Olowokandi and Wally Scczerbiak, 3 of their 6 best players... They have a good bench too... Gary Trent is underrated, Ervin Johnson is still serviceable, etc...

I saw Tales' post and prepared to quote him and say "same here!" ...then i saw Stevan's post... then Andrew's... lol... fooled us all... haha.
Damn Lakers.
Go nuggies. (Y) They wooped 'em.
Earl Boykins continues to be a little legend... 22 points and 6 assists off the bench.
