The LA Clippers have agreed to trade forward Tobias Harris, center Boban Marjanovic and forward Mike Scott to the Philadelphia 76ers for guard Landry Shamet, forwards Wilson Chandler and Mike Muscala, its 2020 first-round pick, an unprotected 2021 first-round pick via Miami and a 2021 and 2023 second-round pick, league sources told ESPN.

Why can't Harris find a home? Glad he and Boban are along for the ride together again lol

I am a bit shocked by this deal tho it can only be that the Clippers feel that Harris isn't worth his max come this summer or think they can sign a top tier player instead

Too many chefs in the kitchen in Philly and I question if Simmons can handle the load of getting everyone involved.

Fine deal for the 76ers. I'm surprised the Clippers are dealing him, especially since they have a winning record and sit a couple of games ahead of the Kings for the eighth spot in the West. He's a fine player, and doesn't have a history of causing problems. As mp3 noted, perhaps they're confident of landing a big name this offseason and the picks are big, but Harris keeps getting passed over.

If it doesn't work out in Philly, I'm all for the Bulls cutting Parker loose via their option/not re-signing KCP after trading Parker for him, and chasing Harris instead.

If the Clippers miss the playoffs they keep their first round pick, and without Harris they have the space to sign two max deals. Basically hoping they can swipe Kawhi and with that pull somebody else in. And have another good draft like landing SGA.

I think there planning on going all out for Leonard this summer,I could see them going after Jimmy Butler too I don't think he will stick with Philly

So essentially this is a tank move to potentially gain 3 first rounders plus cap space. That's the only reason to dump a borderline all-star for nothing like that

Whether it works out in Philly is another question. It doesn't seemed to have worked adding Butler to the mix but maybe this will change things

ironically what the sixers need is a player of covington's skillset.

harris finally gives them a stretch 4 to play next to embiid. seems like a risk to give up that package for a player with high usage that could walk/demand a big contract

seems like maybe ben simmons is the problem? won't shoot and doesn't run pick and roll with embiid. it works for the greek freek as the rest of the lineup is there to space the floor.

It's funny you bring up Covington because I thought this morning to myself that with the trade they could let Joel have the paint have Butler, Harris and JJ patrol the 3 and let Ben find whoever he wants to pass too, but then you remember that Jimmy won't be happy with that at all while Covington doesn't need his touches while also being a great defender too

kind of like you can't have your cake and eat it. talent acquisition wise, can't blame Brand for making the moves. will be fun watching all the pieces try to fit while harris & butler try to showcase themselves for big contracts

Imo biggest problem for Sixers is Ben Simmons. Its hard to watch him running around with Ball, forcing drivers because he just cant shoot and he probably wont in future.

A rather risky move for the Sixers, who give up some of their stashed assets for a rental of Harris, but i like it. They're going to be a really tough out in the playoffs with all of these scoring threats on the team. While their depth isn't great, they could still get somebody off the buyout market, and they can stagger the minutes of their four offensive stars. Of course they could end up being like the 2004 Dallas Mavericks but this move helps them keep pace with the Bucks and Raptors in this wild Eastern Conference arms race.

A year ago he was a future MVP and the second coming of Magic Johnson, and now he's a liability who will never develop a jump shot. He's 22 years old and already an all-star. Just because he might not develop a jump shot doesn't mean there's no chance he will. Maybe he's just another Andrew Wiggins who comes into the league full of potential but makes no apparent effort to improve, but I doubt it.

It looks like there is no chance for him to improve jumpshot. He was too atlethic in high school , college , he was playing with much smaller guys, he did Everything he want inside The paint. There was no need for him to do anything with his mid and 3s. But now he must drive to The hoop against Leonard, Lebron , Giannis, Klay etc.its different story.

I think people are too quick to judge when it comes to Simmons. Who says he needs to shoot 3s to be effective? As stated, he's already an all star in his second year. Hell, he could have/should have been one last year. Plus, I wouldn't want him being like Josh Smith on the Hawks jacking up bad 3s just for the sake of shooting them. He knows what he's good at. And also remember a guy named Ason Kidd? He turned out to be a pretty good shooter later in his career. A better comparison would probably be Magic who also developed his shot later in his career

Giannis Antetokounmpo is doing quite well without being much of a three-point shooter and scoring most of his points around the rim, so I'd say it's possible to succeed in the modern NBA without being a knock-down shooter. He does shoot free throws a little better though, and that's something Simmons could definitely stand to improve upon, especially since he is taking it inside so much.

Giannis is beasting because the bucks surround him with 4 shooters. Lopez has been a godsend

no judgement on Simmons. he's great and all. maybe one day he can bulldoze/step around double teams consistently like Giannis but it's reasonable to say there is a ceiling to his game and to this team if he's not shooting.

just like last year, it will be a good watch to see how Simmons responds to defenses keying on him in the playoffs.

it's nice to see players develop 3pt shots later in their career. even the hustle guy in brooklyn (but was later traded. forgot his name) was canning 3's.

As much as I hate rondo, I do have to admit that he's a much better shooter now than earlier in his career. He seemed to hit his stride around 2015 and I'd dare to say that he's the best 3 point shooter on the Lakers. Except for maybe bullock who they just traded for
