Reminds me of the recent all star game in Phoenix. I do appreciate that it's different. Their yellow alternates are pretty cool.

They know Salt Lake City has very little connection with jazz music, but they also know the nickname works on other levels -- that it distills the improvisational fluidity of basketball, and carries historical cachet.

"The Jazz name is never going away," says Ben Barnes, the team's art director. "It is our identity here. But it has always been hard to fit Utah and jazz together."

That's kind of a stretch. I guess they are kind of stuck with the name, but at the same time, if they feel it is that bad of a fit and they have to come up with alternate designs that downplay the moniker, maybe they should've sold it when the Hornets/Pelicans franchise expressed interest.

Here's the rest of the City jerseys:

Lakers just unveiled their black ones.
I like Milwaukee's cream ones. Some are fugly (I'm looking at you, okc) while others are uninspired redesigns of the regular jerseys or old alternates. There's some interesting new designs though. Of the ones that have no words, only a logo on the front they do look considerably better centered than off center. The kings one is kinda cool. I like the clippers bringing back San Diego colors.
The Magic one is reminiscent of their 1999 jersey with stars in the background.

Miami looks like its going to be some sort of Miami Vice type jersey and Houston will probably have some Chinese on it and Toronto's will be North related based on the matching caps sold by New Era

And people make fun of the 90s designs.

A lot of them are OK, just somewhat uninspired as Q said. That Grizzlies jersey looks like a blank template one might use to create a mod for a video game.

I prefer the grizzlies one over the Brooklyn "let's figure out how many different ways we can put Brooklyn or Nets on the same jersey design" lol

the jazz look like the 80's houston astros jersey taken to another level. i would tell a guy "nice jersey" if i saw them wearing it around but it would be an eyesore if you saw a bunch of people wearing them.

I gotta say after taking a closer look, some of the backgrounds of the jerseys are really cool. Brooklyn has bridge details in the back. Lakers have snake skin and Celtics have parquet. Portland has plaid. Memphis designed after the civil rights signs.

I hope Nike starts integrating these cool backgrounds into the regular jerseys. Best idea they've had since they did something similar for college teams

Nike been doing that for some years now in soccer jerseys, notably Roma that has a map of the city in the away jersey.

Looks like a generic Powerpoint slide background.
