The Los Angeles Clippers have reached agreement on a trade to send All-Star point guard Chris Paul to the Houston Rockets, league sources told The Vertical.
The Rockets will send the Clippers a package that includes guards Patrick Beverley and Lou Williams, forward Sam Dekker and a 2018 first-round pick (protected Nos. 1-3), league sources told The Vertical. There are smaller parts to the deal, including non-guaranteed contracts, league sources said.
Source.Damn, Houston stepping their shit up. DeAndre Jordan is going to look pretty bad without CP3, I think.

Well, that's the end of the best run in Clippers' history.

Good job by the Clippers who somehow managed to get something for nothing, as CP3 was going to leave anyhow.
Rockets are a solid big away from superteam status.

Not as stoked about the trade as other Rockets fans in Houston are. Chris Paul is on the downside of his career and is only going to continue getting more injury-prone... If he can coexist with Harden it'll be worthwhile. Should be fun to see how many flopping highlights they both produce next season.

I think it's going to be quite a show down there. Harden can go back to playing off the ball and Paul is going to light it up playing the PnR for D'Antoni. It's a win-now move and should be pretty interesting.

Paul/Harden would even make Drummond look beastly out there if they could pull off a trade with Detroit.
Edit:

Don't do it PG13.

man the rockets are going to be insane once durant joins them. first they need to get PG, AD, wade, and hayward to come off the bench but once that happens its a sure thing

DeAndre Jordan last seen sobbing over KFC

This is not fair. Veto immediately.

Yeah man, that'll be the toughest road for all of them.

That's the most intriguing aspect of the trade. Pringles man now has an ideal PG to run his offense, alleviating that responsibility from Harden. Maybe we'll see less Harden flops to the free throw line!

I'm very much excited, but I gotta agree with this.
Sorry to see Dekker, Lou, and Pat Bev go. Especially Bev, that dude is tougher than nails.

Another super team that LeBron will not have to go through to reach yet another Finals.

What a wild off-season so far. And still waiting for Boston to make its move
Would PG be interested in going to the other LA team?!

Chris Paul going to give Capela and the other Rockets big men a career like he did with Chandler, Okafor, West, and DeAndre.
CP3 pick and poppin with Ryan Anderson like with David West in New Orleans.

This racism.

What a waste of Paul's best years. At the time, I figured anyone would be an improvement over Vinny but Doc proved it was much more of the same
Brave Sir Rubin wrote:Rockets are a solid big away from superteam status.
I was thinking this, with his success throwing the ball to a money David West mid range J but I forgot they didn't have to trade Ryan Anderson

A lot of people are saying on social media that Paul is washed up blah blah.....D'Antoni turned a 30+ Steve Nash into a two time MVP, I shudder to think what he'll do now that he has Chris friggin Paul.
Agree with everyone else here, they just need a big to throw the ball to now.

The plot, as it so often does,
thickens...
According to SportsCenter's Michael Eaves, Paul had begun to resent Rivers because he, along with other Clippers players, thought the head coach was coddling his son, guard Austin Rivers.
"It led to resentment within the locker room, which often played out during games," Eaves wrote. "One of Paul's biggest contentions with Doc was that Paul, and other players, felt Doc treated Austin more favorably than other players. He would yell at guys for certain things during games and practices but not get on Austin in the same manner for similar transgressions."
Along those same lines, Paul reportedly became fed up with Rivers—who is also the team's president of basketball operations—when he nixed a trade last season that could have landed the Clippers Carmelo Anthony.
"New York offered Carmelo and Sasha Vujacic to the Clippers in exchange for Jamal Crawford, Paul Pierce and Austin Rivers, a deal to which Rivers ultimately said no," Eaves added. "That event led Paul to feel that keeping his son on the roster was more important to Doc than improving the team."
Austin
himself, and his sister
Callie, have responded to those rumours.
Austin Rivers wrote:These false rumors are comedy...so fictional it's actually amusing! People will say or do anything to get attention. A lot [clown emojis] out there
Callie Rivers wrote:yeah... thats what happened. people are delusional.

In all fairness, we only have the report to go on and they are more directly involved in/closer to the situation, but come on. Of course they're going to defend their father, even if there is any truth to the accusation.
If it is true, then...yeah. Good luck getting any better with Doc calling the shots.

My initial reaction was a bit too harsh, but Chris Paul's injury history was the first thing that came to mind. Trading Beverley also bummed me out about the trade, but let's face it, him, nor Lou, nor Dekker were going to be the ones to get the Rockets to the next level.

I'm sure there's some degree of truth to that story as a father-son relationship is a huge conflict of interest that you don't come across very often in a professional sports league.
Thu Jun 29, 2017 3:40 pm
I played on a team in high school with the coach's son on the same team and it was a bit irritating. every time he gets PT over you, you can't help but think about the relationship there. That's always been a big rumor on the Clippers leading to "locker room trouble" but seeing the way that Doc went out of his way just to trade for his son makes me believe there is more than just a player-coach thing here.
Thu Jun 29, 2017 4:49 pm
Oh yeah, I'm inclined to believe there's at least some truth to the report.

You know, I actually don't think it is a bad haul for the Clippers all things considered.
Guys like Beverly and Lou Williams will definitely be coveted by playoff teams to fill out their benches and you can probably trade them to take a flier on a young prospect or grab a low first rounder.
There's some flexibility here for the Clippers. I want to say that they can still make the playoffs with Blake + DJ and some pieces here and there but if I were GM I'd probably be more inclined to let Blake walk and start loading up the dynamite to blow the thing up.
Fri Jun 30, 2017 9:33 am
If they keep Griffin then they can possibly remain somewhat competitive, but I don't see them being as good or better than they are right now. I think the bigger concern is this Doc Rivers story. As I said, if that stuff is true, then retooling/rebuilding is not going to be easy. Players aren't going to want to be a part of that culture.
Fri Jun 30, 2017 10:23 am
Blake apparently entertaining the Suns' interest in him.

I think my favourite response was from
Clipper Darrell.

Well, maybe he can still sit next to Jack Nicholson at a Lakers/Clippers game. Silver lining.

I love love love it. Paul is well past his prime but still tier 1 point guard and should make the Rockets better for sure.
However to my liking, doubtful about the chemistry as Harden himself is also a ball thugging point guard in lot of ways.
As for rumour of Paul George or Carmelo coming to the Houston, I like it. Both players would be great as 3rd best player on the team.
