As I said in the video thread, I'm in two minds about Popovich doing this. On one hand, it can be funny, and it's proving a point about inane questions. On the other hand, he's being paid a lot of money to be a professional, and there's stuff we have to suck up and do in any occupation.

Oh, I did't know that there is a video thread... You can lock this, and from now on, I'll post videos there.
About your opinion, I agree. It must be awkward for that man. Gregg was just staring at him. But if you are 3rd person, then it must be funny.

Not at all. If anything, we've become too reliant on central threads, so by all means make new threads for specific videos in situations like this.

to me this is funny for us watching and maybe the guy holding the camera but for the people doing these interviews it must suck.

I agree 100%
It's hilarious. Maybe someone in the know can explain what kind of rapport pop has with the local media but dealing with the national media has to be a like a visit to the dentist. Sucks for that nba tv guy. The look on his face said it all

I don't really find it extremely amusing any more, but that could be just because it's been done. It's nothing new from him, and part of me can't help feeling he should just suck it up and be an adult about it.

I think it's refreshing to see it happen. That nba tv guy is just some regular Joe Schmoe. He does some studio work and interviews. Stupid questions will get stupid answers. Why is the national media covering preseason day 1 in San Antonio anyway

I love what Popp did. These reporters ask the dumbest/most obvious questions, especially the annoying sideline reporters during basketball /football games. If I was a professional athlete or coach, I'd be like Marshawn Lynch.

I definitely see his point, but I still come back to the fact that any job has its inane moments and less than enjoyable responsibilities. If you're working in customer service, you're going to get a bunch of stupid questions, not to mention abuse, and you're not going to get paid nearly as much to cop all of that as Gregg Popovich does to coach the Spurs and have to answer a few asinine questions at certain times. I think his ire should be directed towards the league itself, actively campaigning for change through direct complaints to Silver and co.

I guess the real issue for me is that I really hate passive-aggressive behaviour, so the joke has kind of worn thin for me.

To be fair, if you do ask a decent question you'll get a much better response.

The funny thing is, that question is basically "How does the team feel (after a really disappointing loss)?", which is just as inane as most other questions he turns his nose up at.

I can understand this.

After all each to his own. Not everyone has to like his what can be seemed as rude/unprofessional demeanor towards media. Just as some think it's humorous and harmless.

Absolutely. I do get why people find it amusing, and the point he's trying to make. I'm really in two minds about it, because I think it can be funny, but passive-aggressive behaviour also rubs me the wrong way.

Actually, I wonder how he'd react to getting some really good, but hardball questions. He might end up missing some of the inane, softball ones.

I think it's particularly justified in the quarter-time interviews, because those are thoroughly pointless to begin with and it's time he should be getting to spend actually goddamn coaching, and the sooner they stop those the better.

I also liked Phil Jackson interrupting the first question one week to praise Michelle Tafoya (IIRC) for coming over and doing the interview, even though she probably had other things she'd much rather be doing at the time, and commending her for being so professional.

I think Popovich doesn't like giving away his strategies and that's smart. But, there should be a way to do it without sounding like a prick.

I'm going to blame the victim on this one. Any reporter should know Pop is a no-nonsense guy and you shouldn't ask him questions about his facial pubes.
