Derrick Rose follows in the footsteps by being accused of gang raping an ex

Derrick Rose is being sued by a woman who claims the NBA Superstar and two of his friends drugged and gang raped her.

The woman, identified only as Jane Doe, says she and Rose dated from 2011 to 2013. During that time, Rose allegedly tried to pressure her to masturbate in front of him, allow him to have sex with her friends and engage in group sex with strangers, all of which she says she refused.

Rose's accuser says the two continued to date until August 2013, when Rose and two friends, Ryan Allen and Randall Hampton (who is also Rose's personal manager) invited her to Rose's Beverly Hills house. She says there, they slipped a drug into her drink with the aim of raping her.

The plaintiff says she escaped the house with a friend, but later that night, Rose and his friends broke into her apartment and gang raped her while she was incapacitated. She says she remembers only "flashes" of the the incident, but can remember the defendants forcibly raping her.

She claims she waited for two years to file the suit because she was "ashamed and embarrassed" of what happened and concerned her "conservative family" would find out.
She wants unspecified damages.

We've reached out to an attorney for Rose, but so far ... no word back.

The last thing I want to do is dismiss such claims out of hand - that happens way too often, as does victim blaming and the like - but yeah, really hoping that this isn't true. Stating the obvious, but that's an incredibly vile thing to do to another human being, I'd hate to think he committed such an atrocity. all i know is its my opinion that when a woman claims she was raped but never was then she needs to suffer the same punishment she was about to place on the accused. the only way false claims will stop is if they are severely punished for it.

I am not assuming she is a gold digger (which she is), I am just saying the whole situation might take away Rose's focus even on the court. That is the last thing he wants I guess and these cases which happened "years ago" are very difficult to prove if they were real or not. Another thing is that even if Rose and his boyband win the case, many people will asume the woman lost just because she filled a lawsuit two years after the incident. Suddenly, even if he is not guilty, Rose becomes the bad guy who got lucky. He was always humble, always thinking about his kid (and his graduation) as you have noticed during the last season but you know what they say - there's no smoke without fire. The funny thing is no matter how hard I try to see that part of the story where Rose and the others are guilty, I just can't. Let's be serious...the victim doesn't want any criminal justice, just a simple civil lawsuit. Yeah right - that's like going to a restaurant and noticing the waiter spit on your food and the only thing you want is an apology. Of course you don't want just that, you also want a free meal and to see that dickhead fired.

I have to admit, that part has me wondering too, but at the same time, I don't want to make any assumptions and dismiss her claim out of hand. As I said, that happens too often, and I have to believe that it stops women from coming forward and justice being done. At the same time, making false accusations surely has a similar effect, and is not only a low thing to do to the person being wrongly accused, but is also incredibly disrespectful and insensitive to the people who have suffered abuse.

I agree that even if Rose is innocent and the case dismissed, a lot of people will assume that he simply got away with it, being a professional athlete...same as others will leap to conclusions about her character, too. That's why I feel uncomfortable speculating: it's either a horrible thing to do, or a horrible thing to falsely accuse someone of, and only a handful of people on the entire planet know what really happened. That's why I hope the truth comes out, one way or another, and that the appropriate action is taken.

A spokesperson for the point guard responded to the allegations, per Liz Mullen of SportsBusiness Journal:

The plaintiff’s allegations are completely false and without any factual basis. This is nothing more than a desperate attempt to shake down a highly respected and successful athlete. Mr. Rose was in a non-exclusive, consensual sexual relationship with the plaintiff for over two years. The plaintiff expressed no complaints about Mr. Rose until various lawyers began to surface and demand that the plaintiff be paid millions of dollars. ... This is the third lawyer the plaintiff has retained in this matter. Two years have passed since Mr. Rose ended the consensual relationship with the plaintiff, and her claims are as meritless now as they were two years ago. We have complete confidence that the case will be dismissed and that Mr. Rose will be vindicated. This lawsuit is outrageous.

You know what's next. The media will get to that woman and make her go on with the case because it is gold for them. I don't think the she will crawl back to her cave after these comments.

Why press charges? The burden and cost is higher, her name will be dragged through the mud like it already is (see: Kevin) and worse by Rose's lawyers, filing a civil suit looking for a settlement makes it go away.

Personally, I'd rather get money than send someone to jail.

I mean, he's my favourite player and that's a vile act, so I obviously hope it isn't true. But if it is - and there's only a handful of people in the world who know for sure - then one can only hope justice is done. Likewise, if it's a false allegation, then I hope that the truth comes out and the case dismissed.

It's a messed up situation either way: either Rose and his friends have done something despicable that absolutely must be punished, or a false accusation is being made, which not only attempts to tarnish someone's reputation, but only makes it more difficult for women who have been abused to come forward. Whatever actually happened, someone has done something that's reprehensible. That's why I don't feel comfortable speculating, so I can only hope the truth comes out and the appropriate action taken.

Rose has always being known for attacking the hole so he could of done this but I think I am on the side of that if he had done it his knees would of exploded by now.

The players shouldn't have such a long off season, only bad things come out when they don't have to be somewhere.
