yao ming

Yao Ming has gone from a skinny tall twig, to a nicely toned giant. In November of 2002, Yao Ming was listed at 7-5, 296. Now, less then a year later, Yao is still 7-5, but he is now 320 pounds of solid muscle. He is going to be a beast this season.. He has gone from a non physical player, to a beast!

nice (y), but i still want to see him do those things at nba-level, and someone who will dominate shaq still has to be born, or shaq has got to be injured/hurt or gettin' really old :)

shaq is 335 and 7'1, i think yao should bulk to around 330-340 at 7'5 since shaq is obviously a bit abnormal anyway  on the other hand, ilguaskas plays alright and he is 7'3 and only 260......... but obviously the muscle mass will help yaoza.

The added muscle and bulk should be beneficial to Yao, but he still needs more touches and minutes to continue his improvement (statistically speaking). That's going to be difficult, because the current arrangement basically has him playing basketball around the clock. He may not be able to play 30, 35 minutes per game for 82 games a year. Unless he gets a break, he's probably never going to get a chance to be the dominant player that he could be.

I think having Van Gundy around will help Yao a lot. He knows how to utilize a great center and will also make sure that Yao gets enough rest and is ready for a possible playoff run.

they should give yao an automatic 10-12 games off every year if he becomes EXTREMELY fatigued.

Shaq is also being trained by Marines this summer to get in shape... Yao has no chage with Shaq. He could even hold Shaq when he was out of shape
