Bibby Heading to ATL?

Bibby for Shelden Williams, Anthony Johnson, Tyronn Lue, & Lorenzen Wright

Looks like Atlanta is finally going to be making the playoffs and all they had to give up was crap. Sacramento was simply robbed, but much better than the Gasol deal because Johnson & Lue are serviceable guards.

Wow - that'll make Atlanta a pretty interesting team, I think I'll actually have to watch a few of their games now. Nice trade for the Hawks, but it's hard to believe Sac couldn't get more for Bibby.

Sacramento got robbed? They've been trying to get rid of Bibby for a while now, and they got exactly what they wanted in return: a bunch of expiring contracts.

I think Shelden Williams is decent, too. I haven't paid much attention to him this year, but I remember seeing him pick up a bunch of double-doubles last season, grabbing a pretty solid amount of rebounds when he was actually given some playing time.

It's all about the $$$

Trading Bibby for 3 expiring contracts and a young big man makes sense to me. Now, maybe, we can re-sign Kevin Martin and maybe even another halfway decent player this offseason. Anthony Johnson, Tyronn Lue and Beno Udrih should be able to fill in nicely for the aging, injury prone Bibby. Now if we can just find a taker for
Ron Artest and Kenny Thomas, maybe we could have enough left over to sign another marquee player and return to the playoffs!

I really like this trade for both teams. The Hawks finally get a point guard that isn't a total piece of shit (I had a feeling they were going to get either Bibby or Andre Miller) and the Kings get a nice little rebuilding package.

Take a look on Wikipedia:

"Michael (Mike) Bibby (born May 13, 1978, in Cherry Hill, New Jersey) is an American professional basketball point guard for the NBA's Atlanta Hawks"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Bibby

The deal is almost done

Nice for the hawks... but the kings doesn't get so much...

this is a good deal for both teams imo and i like it alot for atlanta. they needed someone with some experience to help with all the kids they got, also they have too many damn forwards. they have been trying to get a real point for awhile, well not really, they should have been trying, anyway they got one now

For Atlanta it's a good trade because with a true PG on Bibby, Joe Johnson can be the SG for all the game and can be the scorer all the time, he will have his hands free

And now they have another scoring punch

I see the hawks in playoffs, maybe 6, 7 or 8.

DONE DEAL!

Chekout the NBA website with the pic:

"Hawk Fly in a Star: Bibby on the way to Atlanta

The Hawks were busy over the weekend, acquiring veteran point guard Mike Bibby from the Kings in a five-player trade that included Shelden Williams."

Atlanta gave up crap? Since when is Shelden Williams crap? I think Sacramento got really nice return on this trade, 3 expirings and a promising big. Shelden will immidiatley become the toughest big in Sacramento's front line by a long shot that is inhabited by weak soft bigs like Mikki Moore, Brad Miller, Kenny Thomas and Shareef.

K-Mart already signed a 5 year $55 million extension over the summer. I'm kinda sad, used to be a big Kings fan when te Warriors sucked, and Bibby was the last remaining member of that Kings team that shoud have taken down the Lakers :( in the early 2000's (To clarify)

This trade would make even more sense, if the kings can trade Brad Miller for expiring contracts.

For the moment, Atlanta is going to benefit more from the deal given that they're in a better position to make the Playoffs than the Kings are out West and they ended up with the best player in the deal. The Kings won't really benefit until those contracts are off the books and/or unless Shelden Williams becomes a significant player but it's far less lopsided than the Gasol trade to say the very least.

i agree with indy, the kings definetly got something from this deal, i mean what were they gonna do with bibby anyway? best thing to do is turn him into cap space and young talent

Atlanta gave up crap? Since when is Shelden Williams crap?

I'd say his 2.9ppg and 2.9rpg this season has been pretty crap.

This trade confuses me, I'm fairly sure they could've gotten more than Shelden Williams for Bibby.

I think trade is alright for both teams....would have been better for Kings if they had of insisted on getting Acie Law, but ahh well, they get cap savings....

as for Hawks, good that they finally got a PG....doesn't make me forget you passing on Chris Paul  Hawks would be top 3 or 4 in East with him....such is life

He's been pretty much pushed out of the rotation because Atlanta has gone to a small ball lineup with Horford getting most of the big man minutes. Shelden showed a ton of promise last year, and I don't think it was a fluke. He's very, very good defensively and does a very good job getting to the line.
