MILWAUKEE - Former NBA star Latrell Sprewell’s home is up for foreclosure and his yacht sold at auction to help pay off the $1.3 million he owes on the boat, according to court filings.

Sprewell, who once turned down a three-year, $21 million contract extension saying, “I’ve got my family to feed,” has apparently fallen on tough times.

RBS Citizens NA, or Citizens Bank, filed a foreclosure suit last week in Milwaukee County for the $405,000 home Sprewell bought in the Milwaukee suburb of River Hills in 1994.

...sad news for me since he's one of my fav players of all time and certainly one of the top 10 knicks of all time. He was a guy that wore his emotions on his sleeve though...to his detriment.

the sad thing about it is, all these players have people helping them manage thier money from the second they get drafted, probably before. however, instead of listening to any advice given they just go and act like there is no such thing as taxes. sign a 10 mil deal? buy a house for 4 mil and completly ignore the taxes that are to be paid every single year on that house. invest? why invest when i can own 18 cars. its pathetic really

His retirement is probably as official as it's going to get, seeing as though he hasn't indicated any intention of trying to make it back into the league and there hasn't been any mention of teams being interested in him.

I don't wish Sprewell or any other former athlete/forgotten entertainer any ill will but I'd definitely agree with that. That someone could blow the amount of money they earn or get into trouble over taxes boggles the mind. Shaq is a good example of someone who obviously has the right savvy or listened to the advice he was given, seeing as though he claims not to have touched a cent of his original deal with the Lakers, which should leave him pretty well-off after his retirement to say the least.

would a player have to have played at his best for a team to be considered one of their 10 best or do you consider career stats even if that player played 1 season at the end of thier career for a team?

Well there are guys like McAdoo, Haywood etc that I left out, I think if you considered their entire career the list would be different but I was just taking into account who played around 2 or 3+ seasons for the Knicks and how they performed when they were there.
