No, he's actually
MY favorite player.
Now, I like this trade. It'll be strange not seeing him in black, but none the less I think this is going to be a positive move towards Korver's career. I could care less how it affects either team.
Korver wasn't playing enough in Philly, and Mo Cheeks is in love with Willy Green. Furthermore, management wants to develop young guys, and they have two prospects who play on the wing, so that didn't help Korver's situation any. All of this, coupled with injuries, was causing him to have his worst season since his rookie year. In fact, his numbers are his worst he's ever had in every statistical category (aside from FT%) since his rookie year.
In thinking about his situation in Utah, it seems much more promising. Obviously he'll be playing primarily SG because of AK47, and Utah is in search of a SG. They want a shooter who can spread the floor, they thought they had that in Giricek but realized that he's not so consistent. Jerry Sloan likes playing veterans, he likes playing guys who fit into a set offense, he likes shooters, he likes white guys who can shoot. Korver fits into everyone of those categories. Ronnie Brewer is going to be his main competition, and he's been playing great this season, but he can shoot for beans.
I think he's going to get more PT in Utah, and he's probably going to make the playoffs, both of these things are good for him. I'm interested to see how his production changes, but I think it'll be positive. The thing that's going to potentially hurt him is how much Sloan decides to play Ronnie Brewer.
