voting a scrub into ASG

Postby Jugs on Thu Nov 15, 2007 6:01 pm

Ok the guys at realgm have almost decided to vote in Shane Battier into the all-star game because China will give him 800,000 votes while the rest of us noobs can pop in another decent amount.

KG is in the EAst and TD is a Center so we should be able to get this guy in.

so Battier is the easiest option, although not the funniest

bloody NBA put Fatoine walker as WEST GUARD?!?

Write-In takes too long  . But I can still vote Roy and Aldridge, even though Yao will win West C and Kobe + T-Mac will win West guard

Yes! If we're going to vote in ANYONE, it must be Kyle Korver. And don't complain about you're player, like Melo, losing his vote because you know as well as I do he's going to that game one way or another.

So after years of complaining about China almost voting Yaos subpar team mates the plan is to give in? lmao This is the exact reason why some think that fans should have nothing to do with voting.

What do you call a power forward that averages 7 rebounds?
A small forward.

People with Stephon Marbury in their signature shouldn't be allowed to insinuate how stupid NBA fans are.

I believe that everyone agrees fans should have nothing to do with the voting. A scrub starting might actually send them a message that I'm sure they wont read.

AK8 wrote:EDIT: How to vote multiple times

Sent to me by Corona:

this is slightly based off what NHL fans attempted to do with Rory Fitzpatrick for the 2006-2007 All-star game.

except this year NBA fans across the internet, starting from realgm.com, are going to successfully get Shane Battier & Antoine Walker into the 2007-2008 All-star game as starters.

ImageImage

why Battier?
a) he's a great character guy, a hard worker, a true role player, what a role model should be and we can recognize him for that by voting him in as an all-star.
b) he already has the china vote behind him (because he's on yao's team). received over 1 million votes in 2006-2007, and that makes it easier to get him in.
c) most other positions in the nba are packed with players that receive upwards of 1.7 million votes. we should only need ~1.5 million to get battier in as a west forward. the less work we create for each other the easier it will be and the more likely it is to happen.

why Walker?
a) he's a funny dude.
b) exemplifies the average american - lazy, overweight, and working just hard enough to collect his paycheck.
c) who doesn't want to see the shimmy in the 2008 all-star game?

but you thought you could only vote once per day....?
Not true. The NBA online voting system only uses cookies to prevent multiple votes. cookies can be deleted from your computer quite easily, thus allowing you to vote as many times as you like, as long as you delete the right cookie after each vote.

here's how to do it as quickly as possible: (takes about 20 seconds per vote, or 15 minutes per ~50 votes if you do it quickly)
1. open your browser and go to: www.nba.com/allstar2008/asb/setOpt.jsp?ver=eng (put this link in your favorites...or make it your browser home page...it'll make it infinitely faster)

2. 'add' shane battier, and antoine walker. (both western conference, walker's a guard, battier's a forward)

3. go down to the bottom, type in the code (remember, case sensitive) and click 'vote'

4. close the browser.

5. open up windows explorer (start - all programs - accessories - windows explorer)

6. navigate to the folder C:\Documents & Settings\(windows username)\Cookies

7. click 'search' at the top of windows explorer

8. search for 'nba' and delete the cookies that are found.

9. LEAVE THE WINDOWS EXPLORER SEARCH WINDOW OPEN!

10. re-open your internet explorer browser and repeat the process. but the second time around all you need to do to delete the cookies is go back to the windows explorer page and delete whatever pops up (there will be two items that do)

that's it!

its important to note:
-this method only works for internet explorer. firefox stores its cookies in a specific .txt file, and it makes it difficult to delete each one individually, and quickly.
-you don't have to fill out the whole form. you can only vote for battier, or just battier & antoine walker, or just battier & your favorite player....and your vote will still be counted.
-some people have complained about not seeing the 'no thanks, take me to voting' button. you need to use the link that was given above: www.nba.com/allstar2008/asb/setOpt.jsp?ver=eng

.

to put things in perspective; to get Battier an extra 500,000 votes we'll need 1000 people to vote for him 23+ times per day for every day that votings open (67 days). it'll take about 4 times that many to get walker into the game. that's a lot of people voting a lot of times, and to make it happen we'll need support from you, personally...and other people on forums you visit. so feel free to copy & paste this post to other (basketball) forums you visit around the internet, and hopefully we can create something big. what would also help is putting a link to this thread in your signature in this forum, and all the forums you frequent.

below are two codes you're free to use:
Code: Select all

Vote Antoine Walker & Shane Battier!

Code: Select all

Vote Antoine Walker & Shane Battier!

don't have time to vote 10-30 times a day?
that's fine. however if you could help us out by voting for Battier along with the times you vote for your other favorite players, or just vote once a day online, that'd help us a lot. every vote counts.

please respond in this thread with how much you expect to contribute, and how much you're actually contributing every day/week after voting.

thanks!
-corona

===============================================

EDIT: VOTING PATTERNS

THIS IS HOW WE"RE GONNA DO IT GUYS

This is the only way I can see us winning it:

When voting Forwards in the West:

Vote Luke Walton and Shane Battier

When voting guards in the West

Vote Antoine Walker and Jarret Jack

This way we not only vote for Battier and Toine, we'll also get votes off the main people.

Please, lets stick to THIS plan from now on, this is our best shot to organize.

Id like to see Walker start in the all star game. He can average 22 minutes with 2 points and 1 of 12 shooting. Shimmy that.

Being apathetic on All-Star Voting, I put in my one & only vote. I couldn't be bothered with Antoine Walker, just don't like him. Here were my votes:

WEST
C- Tim Duncan
F- Sean Marks
F- Shane Battier
G- Kevin Martin
G- Steve Nash

EAST
C- Andrew Bogut
F- Kevin Garnett
F- David Lee
G- Richard Hamilton
G- Gilbert Arenas

Sean Marks deserved at least one vote 8-)

Seriously, did you even bother to read the words behind Stephon before posting that? Did I hurt your feelings or something?

on the flip side, no Yi on the ballot means that the NBA doesn't wanna see him start.

i agree, i think its purely cause they dont want him in the game yet. also they moved duncan to center on the ballot, anyone think this is to try and move yao out of the starter spot? personally i think duncan is coming off the bench my self.
