I have been reading all over the net, people from Australia requesting for someone to buy NBA League Pass Broadband and send the password to them, that way the bypass the fact they can't order from Australia. I figured that because I want to expand my coverage alot more this season, that I would do the same. When I was searching in Google, I came across this:
Elsewhere in the world, the NBA just announced that NBA League Pass Broadband on NBA.com “will be expanded to select countries,” including Australia, Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.
The NBA is to announce next week that the NBA League Pass Broadband on NBA.com will be expanded to select countries.
Fans in these countries will have access to around 30 NBA games each week.
Australia, Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland are going to be offered this access.
A league spokesman said Wednesday that a final subscription fee for the service had not been determined. Several packages of options are to be offered.
The quotes are both from articles published late last year, Nov/Dec 2006. I was pretty shocked to see this, so I went to the NBA League Pass Broadband official site to check it out. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any details on this or when it would come into effect. So, I emailed the technical support email on the site and asked myself if I could order and watch League Pass from New Zealand.
I didn't get a definative answer back, but I did get this:
Hello Shannon,
Please visit the following:

Best Regards,
NBA Subscription Support
I clicked the link and the first sentence says: "NBA League Pass Broadband is now available in your area!". The URL was obviously meant for international purchases, so I guess it is available.
This may be old news, but with me just finding out now I'm pretty excited. Being able to choose from 30 games a week is going to be great, even if my broadband usage costs are going to skyrocket.
It's $70 for a half season pass, so I guess US$140 for the season, around NZ$185 or AU$165. Seems pretty decent to me, especially since I payed around $50 a month for 3 games a week if I'm lucky.
I don't think I can order yet, because when I try to, it runs through the speedcheck then goes no further. I recently got a real good ISP so I doubt theres any problems with my speed.
Anyway, I hope this is the end of the dark ages for us all.
