Playoff Salaries?

If anyone can answer me?
-When a team reaches playoffs, do the players get bonuses or do they get extra salaries?

Say player A is entitled to 15 millions this year thanks to his contract, does he get any bonuses for being the playoff and finals?

I think they do but the amount and everything is in the contract.

I remember I read somewhere that Don Nelson gets 1 million for every round he advances or something like that. Don't know about players.

Its not 1 million for every round, it was 1 million for the playoffs, one million for making the second round, and now he can get up to another 1.3 million.. Or thats what i read on realgm the other day anyways..

A player's contract may specify a bonus if the team reaches the Playoffs or if he achieves certain honours such as making the All-Star team. I don't think there's a standard bonus for every player who happens to be on a playoff team.

I think the players keep on getting the same "game" compensation for play-off games. So it's all good for the players... And they probably have some sort of a bonus designation for making the play-offs... Winning the whole shebang etc.

Plus there are always individual goals that are put down as incentives for the players to do their best to reach them.

The amounts that are marked down as the salary are regulated somehow and special conditions can be added to the contract probably within some bounds set by the NBA head office. Otherwise teams would have minimum wages and huuuuuuge bonuses... If the bonuses didn't count toward the salary cap...

Are you asking if playoff performance bonuses count against salary cap?

Bonuses are considered either "likely" or "unlikely", and if they are "unlikely" they are not considered against the salary cap. So for example Golden State getting to the 2nd round would be considered "unlikely" and any bonuses would not go against cap.

i agree with Andrew.. but i think its not in the contract.. maybe its just plain verbal.. as what maes said, it cant be in the salary cap coz its unlikely.. since the teams wud be left guessing and guessing..

Nothing in life money related is just plain verbal. Even when you win 50 cents there is usually a 500 word disclaimer somewhere about it.

Players can have bonuses in their contracts, but irregardless of them, I am pretty sure every player gets a playoff bonus from the league (much like they get for all-star weekend) it is not a lot of money (compared to their regular contracts that is..) and depends on how far they get. They at least used to, I know the players from the 80 and 90s will mention it occasionally.

Winning the title would give the Spurs $2,542,637 to distribute among players and support staff. Should they lose, they would have $1,945,164 to hand out.

All teams that qualify for the first round receive $149,243, plus an amount based on their regular-season finish in their conferences. The Spurs got $151,421 for finishing third in the Western Conference.

Advancing to the second round earned the Spurs an additional $177,579; beating the Suns in the conference semifinals got them $293,447 more.
